Yes, that's what I call the crossbar.  You don't have to, but you can with the soft felt.  I think the stiff felt would prove too stiff for the job.  It's a minor thing, so if it seems like too much trouble, just skip that step.  If you decide to do it, do it first, then use the stiff felt.  You'll see how the stiff felt strips will push against the soft felt, once the soft felt strip is wrapped over the crossbar.

Got ya! Working on them right now. Thanks!

Go slowly with the scissors, and you'll get some nice straight uniform strips

Hi, Do I still need to put the quarter foam back when finish this mod?

I am talking about the black foam in this pic. Thanks.

I guess that's from a different mod...?  I've never seen or read about anything like that.  Is it just the quarter piece?  What's it supposed to accomplish?

The only thing I can think to say is, do the Fuzzor mod, try it out, then put that foam piece back in to do a comparison.  Let your ears be the judge.

Took me 50 min just to finish the left side.

Looks pretty good.  Yeah, it's a tedious mod.  I guess you did the crossbar piece last.  Did you use the softer felt?  Does it look like it's staying in place, or is it peeling up at all?  For some reason the second photo doesn't open in a new tab at a larger resolution.

That quarter of foam is just too freaky.  If HFM included it, I'd love to hear their reasoning.

Yes. I did use the soft felt. It looks like it's staying there just fine. I don't know about the quarter foam, but in another thread "he6 planar headphone" someone told me don't to worry about it, most people who do this mod just peel it off. You can search "quarter" on that thread, and you will see.

I finally peeled the foam down so you can see what the final version looks like now:

Thank you! Did you did any other mods beside this? I have also purchased a pen tray. Prepared for the regrill mod now.

That's the other easy one.  For me, the pads make the biggest difference, and I've gone through quite a few.  I reckon that counts as a mod.  A DIY cable, too.  I'm all tricked out

How is your diy cable? did you hardwired it into the cans?

I made a few for my HE-500s and HE-560s, all of which I prefer over the stock cables.  I settled on the ones I made with some Litz wire another Head-Fier mentioned.  You can read all about in the DIY cable thread and see pix in the Gallery thread.  Like the stock cables, they're detachable.  I don't understand hardwiring.  What if I want the longer cable, or the shorter one?  I wish my Grados and K550s had detachable cables.

Time for this modder to sleep.  Enjoy your day

Where do you got the materials needed for diy cable? Any instructions here? Thanks!
