Lucky you ap100 has controllable LO level and it was set to 35, in other player it will be maxed out and it could damage your headphone.

My micro sd card is formatted in exfat. Is that ok for use in the Ap100, or should it be reformatted to fat32? If fat32 is necessary, how do I reformat?........after right clicking on the disk, and then format, I see only two options, NTFS or exfat. I don't see fat32.

I figured out how to get to fat32, and and updated to fw 71. Maybe its my imagination but the ap100 seems to sound better.

One day I might explain what happened that made me realize that the ap100 is built like a tank. I have no regrets about buying it........and that was about a year ago.

I also noticed that SRC can consume a bit more energy, e.g. when upsampling to 24bit 192kHz, but I think it's worth it.

I haven't noticed that personally, but then I'm not keeping a strict eye on battery life.

In what way is it worth it, better sound? What type files is it worth it with?............... bit rate?

I asked a similar question about the SRS button earlier, either here in this thread of over here. Someone translated it from a french forum or summin, the soundstage is changed and different emphasis is placed on other frequencies etc throughout the different modes. Personally I use either 24bit 96hz or 24bit 176hz, the last setting 24bit 192khz sounds to me like the bass is too boomy, or at least is at higher volumes.
As i said, I dunno what files you're using, volume, headphones or other EQ settings, so what SRC mode you use in conjunction with all that will change things. You're best to just sit down and tinker about, trial and error, and not do what is directed at you, let your ears be your guide.

Mostly I am playing FLAC files with a sample rate of 44.1kHz and 16 bit precision.

With upsamling to 192kHz 24 bit I find that the sound is clearer (especially the highs) with slightly better separation. At the same time the highs seems to be a bit rolled off (without being recessed but less harsh). I would say the bass is a tiny bit stronger at the lower sample rates. This may be a result of the interpolation done by the SRC chip.

My preferred setting also depends on the headphones. For instance, with the AKG K550, the AudioTechnica A900X or the Shure SRH-840 I use SRC to 192kHz. But with the AudioTechnica MSR7 I turn SRC off. These headphones have already a superb clarity and SRC makes them sound harsh.

I also noticed some minimal changes in sound signature from firmware 070 to 073Beta1. However, these differences are subtle.
What I did notice, though, is that 073Beta1 cannot play back 96kHz files at the correct speed - these files are played back too slow. Only when turning on SRC the speed is correct again. This bug did not exist in 070.

In the end SRC is a matter of personal preference. But it is definitely worth to have this option on the AP100.

Use only same base upsample rate. Whats mean? 44.1 to 88.2 or 176.4 // 48 to 96 or 192. Hidizs have got a two different high precision txco crystal for sample rates. This means if you listening redbook format (16/44.1), 24/176.4 is way more better than 24/192. If you want better sounding, better seperation and more sparkly trebles use 071 stable fw. Its better than 070,073 beta and 075 beta I think.

I didn't understand any of that, but most of my files are 16/44.1 and i find 24/176.4 to be my preferred setting.

The Line Out volume will stay at the last volume setting unless you turn on LO Control in the settings. With LO Control on you can adjust the volume when plugged into the Line Out.

Use the Line Out when connecting the AP10O to an amplifier as the signal from the Line Out is adjusted for that purpose to better the Line In levels.[/quote]

Where can I get 071 and 075beta from? Do you have links on the Chinese Hidisz forum?
