I’ve never tried an RS6 but I’d also be curious to know the differences between the two. I’m pretty sure @gLer will be covering this in his review :)
Indeed I will, I've started taking notes already. 😉
Hey thanks, it feels good to be back only not for my wallet which had been quiet for the longest time ever in my audio journey... but hey it's released almost for my 50th birthday on nov 14th so... I loved R8 and RS6, RS8 is a dream come true... we'll see going blind in this is nuts!
Indeed glad to see you back David. If you liked R8 and RS6 you're in for a real treat...RS8 is like the best of both, but with its own character too. It's luxurious too.

Order placed. Wooo!

Planning to do a 4-way shootout with RS8, N8ii, SP3000 & WM1ZM2. Should be fun!
Really looking forward to it!

Ordered too!! I hope it wil be an improvement (musicality, naturalness...) to the already fantastic sounding SP2000T an DX320. I've no clue abaout this R2R technology, how to set up the Darwin-Controller, DSD-Settings etc. It wil be fun to find the best settings I think :o2smile: I wanted the SP3000 first, but cutting the onboard memory and rise up the price is a no go...I've to pay CHF 700 more (CHF 4'300 in Switzerland) than for the SP2000. So the RS8 offers a lot more and it's 1'000 cheaper. I'm looking forward to this flagship!! Happy listening!

I just preordered. Most expensive Dap I have ever purchased by $1000.
I sure hope it lives up to the praise you SoCal can jam guys gave it…
I really enjoy the R2R sound from R-01 and RS6 I owned previously.
If you like all of those other DACs/DAPs, then it's a safe bet that you will like the RS8.

I know it's about the sound but looks help, going by the pictures I like how the motif on the back of the RS8 is similar to the Meze Empyrean -
don't have either, as I say from the pictures - may not look good in reality.
I do have the Empyrean. I had the same thoughts when I first saw the back of tge RS8.
The Hiby designers might have the inspiration from the Empy. Conscious or unconscious.

Glamour shot from earlier today...Turii Ti came in for review, and the titanium partners look so good together!

Maybe I’ll get the empyrean too for a matching pair! Must look cool together. How does the empy sound with the R8?

Good news!
I received a really nice email from Andrew at Musicteck this evening offering a free CR 08 dock for all people who pre-order/order the RS8 before November 30 as long as they post RS8 photos and impressions on this thread and the water cooler thread.
What a great bonus! I believe the CR08 is priced at $300US.
Thanks Hiby, Andrew and Musicteck

Why not just include the CR08 for the early adopters? as opposed to using it as payment for promoting potentially biased views and hype. Some people will be waiting for this initial user feedback before taking the plunge as reviews are pretty much adverts.

Just to put it into perspective.. This seems to be a Musicteck initiative, not a Hiby one. Which will predominantly be aimed at drawing additional customers to Musicteck, not necessarily to Hiby :)
