Nope, because I waited for the battery to drain out before I heard of this protection mode. But I guess that's what triggered the seemingly "bricked" status.
I would suggest to connect the device to a non-fast charging, 5V only USB port for 30 minutes.

I’m having trouble getting my R8 to connect to my router. I recently had new broadband put in and so I went to update the R8 wi-fi. The DAP detected the new router and so I put in my password and asked to connect, but nothing has happened and no connection is made. There are no errors messages, it just seems to ignore the connection request. Has anyone else had this happen?

Here is a picture of what I see on the screen. I am the EE one and it says ‘saved’ under the router name after I entered the password.

Have you checked the router settings to make sure this particular device is allowed to communicate? Maybe your router's firewall is blocking it?

Agree- maybe good to contact your IP service too if the router itself is not the issue.

I’ve had lots of connection problems with various wifi sources especially while travelling. Sometimes there is a particular website that requires login or accepting terms before the device will connect the first time. Again this is an issue to discuss with your internet provider.

What happens if you tap on it again?

Nothing at all happens. I’ve tried removing it and then letting the R8 detect the router it again but still nothing.

Try to switch off some fancy new WiFi features, like 802.ax mode, AiMesh, etc.

You may want to change the channel on the router. Not all channels are supported in every country. Just a thought, but I have ran into this before.
