I waited R8 many months, but I’m going to upgrade R5 to Cousin Shanling M6 pro...

The tricky part is that Hiby official media has not released any news about R8 yet. Even though I tried ask in weibo, but no response at all.

We are in May already. I guess Hiby got some troubles in finalizing the R8...

Need more patience.

If audiophiles are in a hurry to upgrade, FIIO M15 is another very good choice!

I dunno about you guys but AK DAC chips (Fiio) are just not as clear and holographic as the ESS implementations of iBasso dx220 (/ amp8) and also hiby r6 pro imo. I know I prefer an analytical signature over a warm one.
Get the DX200 that will crack mirrors.

<Gentle disagreement>

I've had a few different DAPs with both ESS & AKM DAC chips (FiiO x5iii, Cowon Plenue II mk2, Opus#2, Hiby R6pro). To my ears, Hiby and Cowon are very close. Yep, Cowon is a tiny bit 'softer' -- preferred to drive my Utopia, while the Hiby might do a little better with Ether 2/RAD-0. Auteur & HEKv2 are happy either way. But neither is significantly 'better'. I use the Hiby when I want to stream Spotify, while the Cowon is strictly 'local music only'.

FiiO was sold a while ago, and it was slightly warm. But there were issues with its analog section, which added to the warmth vs line-out to an external amp. Opus is currently for sale :)

I'm not sure that 'warm' is the opposite of 'analytical'.

Man, Hiby released the "official leather COVER" 3 days ago in China. Remember it's "Official Leather Cover" of R8. No any news on R8 yet.

It seems Hiby is playing the marketing game following the Apple G1 way back into 12 years ago.

I hope the final quality would let me down.
