Hiby R6 Pro - serious upgrade to popular DAP

BTW PowerAmp supports DSD sound files but it doesn't change the LED color.
That's because it doesn't do native DSD, it probably converts to PCM, or worse, it might go through the android stack. You are probably better off using USBAPP, HibyMusic or Neutron rather than poweramp if you want to experience what the R6 pro (or any decent Android based DAP) has to offer. It's sad as I love poweramp's interface but I stopped using it years ago as it did not bypass the android stack or work with USB DAC back then.

You sure it’s not the hiss from the recording itself? I don’t detect ant hiss issue with highly sensitive earbuds .
Yup, sure... I have used 3 IEMs with my R6 Pro (out of the 4.4mm jack) and the hiss pretty much tracks with what I think is the sensitivity...

S8F - very sensitive and very noticeable hiss
DM6 - not as sensitive as the S8F and much less hiss, but still there
Kanas Pro - not as sensitive and no hiss I can remember (haven’t listened to them in a few days so memory a bit vague)

In the end, iEMatch solves this. Actually, most of the time I choose to ignore the hiss and listen without iEMatch, but when I want the cleanest sound that’s my go to solution.

I will do a quick test with a few other IEMs tonight.

Be aware that the adapter that comes with the R6 Pro from HiBy is reported to add this hiss. The Cayin adapter from MusicTeck or any other adapter you can probably find of good quality is reported to not have this hiss. Multiple people in this thread have confirmed this. It is the adapter HiBy ships out with their R6 Pro that is causing these issues from what I understand.

In the end, for IEMs, I see no need to use anything but the 3.5mm port as it should have enough power to drive most IEMs just fine. I've compared the sound for my Xelento Remotes, and I hear no difference between the two ports. The point of the balanced port, I think, should be to drive into something requiring a lot more power than that.

Yeah! I don’t use that adapter for that very reason. I have angled adapters that have no wire. But I am also getting the hiss with cables terminated in 4.4mm connectors without adapters.

Thank you for the suggestion. I need to try the 3.5mm output... I have been going to balanced cables, but, still have quite a few SE cables... you’re absolutely right. The R6 Pro has an insane amount of power for IEMs. I got it because I also want to run my bigger cans off of the 4.4/( I have an XLR to 4.4mm adapter for that)...

The adapter that came with my R6 Pro is quite susceptible to interference. I've confirmed this by holding my smartphone near the adapter.

I'll have to get a better adapter or a proper 4.4mm cable to see how the hiss is without interference being a factor.

Did anyone try to use Netflix on R6Pro? It doesn't work for me. I tried both the PlayStore version and the one from Netflix website, specifically for older Android. It says 'this device is not supported by the app' or 'this app is not compatible with your device'. Not a big deal but it would be nice to make it work.

With my iPhone ,if I put the Hiby to the right side of the iPhone, no interference. If the Hiby is to the left of the iPhone , there is interference s

What does "1bit 1411 2KHZ 22579KBPS DSD_LSBF_PLANAR" Under the album cover of the instrumental playing on PowerAmp indicate? PCM?
The same instrumental that's in the picture I posted.

It says "play dsd" it doesn't say it's native without conversion to PCM or any other form of post processing.

@talmadge new R6 Pro owner here (2 weeks in). How do you direct Tidal offline download to mem card instead of internal?
Go into settings on Tidal and you should see an option to change memory option
