Hiby R6 Pro - serious upgrade to popular DAP
Jun 20, 2020 at 7:16 PM Post #3,451 of 4,006
Hi all, I just bought a Beyerdynamics T5p 2nd gen and it seems they only come with a 3.5mm output jack and a 6.3mm adapter. I haven't received it yet.

Should I try with a 4.4mm replacement cable in order to use it with a Hiby R6 alternative plug or just stick with the 3.5mm stock one? Any recommendations? I only see Sukira and Earmax brands for around $60 each and I don't want to waste money just considering how expensive the T5p is.

I've been using the Hiby R6 pro since launched, with an ATH-MSR7b and 4.4mm connection, and the sound is incredible. A lot of people just talk about noise reduction for long cables, but it seems that it could be more than that with the 4.4mm connection.

I've never heard those cans, but personally I would run everything possible from the R6p's balanced out. It just sounds better.

Thanks Joe, first thing i did was an update. what is global mseb?
Maybe you need to keep updating. Updates are incremental so you might find yourself several versions behind.

If you're on the latest version, MSEB will be right in the same page as the tonality setting in the sound options page. You'll not miss it :)

It's short for MageSound 8-ball and you can see some descriptions of it here

The mseb is a great feature, try not to use it on an excessive way, just for a little fine tuning, even though it depends on your taste. I personally use it on my stereo not on my headphones.
Yep, when it was first launched the MSEB defaulted to the "Fine-tuning" range setting, but I think it defaults to full range now... might want to have a talk with the team about that 🤔

Cheers, i thought it would have updated to latest version. You are correct there is at least one more.

Thanks for the information.

I really love the sound of these! It can drive my beloved OG Ireland HD 650 at balanced, high gain, 50 volume. BUT I can't use the control buttons(skip, back, play pause) on music streaming service Amazon Music HD.They work on tidal though but i got a year of subs for amazon :slight_frown:

Our engineers report that the system events looked for by Amazon Music HD for these are not the normal ones. Now, either they are as yet unable to find out what those nonstandard events are, or they're unwilling to have our buttons send out these nonstandard events in addition to the regular ones, for fear that it would muck something else up 😅
