Hiby R6 Pro - serious upgrade to popular DAP

I would like that change too, but I don't think any of them do that. A separate volume level on line out (which is max for me) and headphone/balanced out would be very nice. Also, I cannot how to keep bluetooth from automatically turning itself on which drives me nuts.

After using the Hiby Pro for a couple of weeks, I am disappointed in the bluetooth performance. I really hope they are fixing this in a future firmware update. If I move too much it cuts out and drives me crazy. Also, the distance is very short from player to earbuds. Cuts out after 10 feet or so.

I find that the max volume of a headphone out and the line out are usually the same volume. At least that seems to be the case with my DP-X1A and a few other devices I've had in the past.

So you could achieve volume control on powered speakers just by using the headphone out.

I always assumed a line out was just a convenient way to plug in and automatically get full volume potential of the device, but if companies are starting to make the volume adjustable on line outs, it seems to kind of defeat the purpose.

edit: I can understand having a few different gain stages for the line out, because some devices can handle more power before distorting. But having a fully operational volume control on a line out just seems strange to me.

It's definitely not a deal-breaker or anything. I'm still planning on buying the R6 Pro. Just an oddity.

If the line out can be volume controlled, what is the point?

Does it bypass all signal processing?
That the line out can be volume controlled is a feature of the DAC chip. We don't want to neuter a feature just because everybody has the misconception that the volume of a line out can't be controlled.

Fair enough, I'm just trying to figure out what the difference is between the line out and the headphone out. Aren't they both 3.5 mm?

Somebody else mentioned that the device doesn't save separate volume levels for the headphone out and the line out, so you could theoretically blast out your ears by plugging into the headphone out when you turned up the volume for the line out.

Is that still the case?

Well, unfortunately yes.

One could just as well plug one's earphones into a volume unregulated line out and get blasted that way, so...

Well that could be check out in further revisions, it has happened to me more than once and believe me, it ain’t funny, and i know that i could only remember to reduce the volume after using it as line out, but sometimes those little perks are a huge difference when making loyalty with a brand, even more nowadays where everyone is super sensible about everything

Sorry to bother you, I’m actually excited for the further releases that hiby are doing, I’m sending my r6 pro for warranty cause of the failed plug i mentioned before, i was in the market for a new dap, something bigger, today someone at hiby replied to me that you guys are releasing something bigger than the r6 pro, i like so much the brand that I’m waiting for any news about that, but i was about to pull the trigger for a cayin n6II, that’s how much i like my hiby, that I’m willing to wait for whatever you guys will offer

I am having some serious bluetooth issues. When I touch the top of the player on the right side, the connection drops out. Is this a defective player that I need to return?
It's certainly not normal behaviour. Do please contact service@hiby.com for assistance.

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the reply. I wrote to Music Teck and this was their response:

Hi John,

Thanks for letting me know! I am sorry to hear that.

It's not a defect. Everything works as expected. The bt antenna is at the top, so sometimes when you touch it you block the signal. Also, some Bluetooth headphones have different sensitivity level where one can be used further away from the source.

Best,
Andrew

What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Hi John,
I've discussed with MusicTeck and I can't be sure which of our conflicting sources of info is right at the moment. Please wait for me to obtain a definitive answer from HiBy HQ tomorrow.
Cheers,
Joe

Dear John,

After further consultation, if by the upper right you mean touching part of the chassis and not any part of the screen (thus not interacting with the UI in any way), this would be a confirmed defect and you may send in your unit for repair / replacement.

Musicteck will be updated on the matter and the technical issue.

Best regards,
Joe
