HIBY R6 - DAP Dual DAC Balanced Out - Great Reviews and Over 500% Funded @ Indiegogo!

Yes, we are trying to come to grips with the Tidal issue, and we do intend to make MSEB available globally somewhere down the line.

Now, here's something you guys can help us with: those of you with tracks that stubbornly refuse to display embedded album art or a cover.jpg in the folder, can you send me one of those tracks in question through pm? Together with any external cover images you've tried to get the player to recognize.

:)

Apologies for my ignorance, but does "MSEB" refer to the ability to tweak/equalize the sound?

And I'm curious what "somewhere down the line" means (a firmware/software update in a few months versus not seeing it until the R6 MKII in a couple of years).

Yes, MSEB used to be referred to as "Magesound 8-Ball" and is used to tweak the sound quality in a lot of interesting ways. It's not an ordinary equalizer since the setting sliders are labelled quite uniquely. I've not used it myself but several of the folks on the thread that reviewed the player have and had good things to say about it.

As for "somewhere down the line", it usually means in terms of weeks and months since I have not seen too many DAP makers extend their firmware support beyond a year or so (although there have been some exceptions). Since the R6 is brand new and HiBy's first DAP, I'm sure they will bend over backwards to ensure that the bugs and functional issues are ironed out as fast as they can. I know I am looking forward to seeing the R6 reach its full capability.

Hope that helps...

Thanks guys.
I'm hoping to be able to use the MSEB to EQ music via TIDAL offline. I believe that's what @Joe Bloggs means by "available globally".

Hope it's not too long. Not a huge fan of the ES9028 chips, though I know they're good. MSEB was one of the main reasons I made this purchase.

@Joe Bloggs

My apologies for addressing this question directly to you, but I’ve read through this entire topic, viewed the video review and have not yet discovered an answer.

So, I’ve ordered the SS version via indiegogo (#1075), and my primary intended use for the R6 is as a digital transport playing OFFLINE Tidal fed through a Hugo 2.

1. So, will Tidal OFFLINE (via the Tidal app) be output, without interference from the Android system (ie Direct Transport), into the Hugo 2 via the digital outputs of the R6?

2. Which is the best output method for transferring digital data from the R6 to the Hugo 2? A USB C to Micro B OTG cable?

Thank you!

Dear Weider,

1. Yes, Tidal offline will work with the R6 Direct Transport Audio technology, which works through coaxial digital output as well as the onboard headphone jacks.
2. The R6 comes with a coaxial digital adapter cable. In R6's audio settings set the multifunction output to S/PDIF, then plug the adapter cable in the port on the left. A coaxial female RCA to male 3.5mm cable connected to the male RCA plug on that adapter cable and the Hugo 2's coaxial digital in should provide the most reliable digital connection between the R6 and the Hugo 2.

Also - is Tidal offline able to be saved to SD card or just internal memory?
I just personally checked again and confirmed that the SD card is available as a choice and song data is indeed saved there. :)

Anyone know what order numbers are currently being shipped for the stainless steel version? Waiting patiently with #583 :)

It rather depends on when you handed in your answers to the shipping questionnaire.

Those of us in UK, be warned that you may receive a customs invoice from FedEx - I had one arrive this morning. Irony for me is that I've sent that R6 back and will likely now get hit for a second time once it's replacement ships...

I’m sorry (again!) but, I am not aware of any shipping questionnaire? Will it be emailed to me?

@joebloggs I'd like to know this as well. Only time I've filled my address out was in the initial order.

Ouch. Maybe ask Hiby to mark it as Repair or something to make sure this doesn't happen?

How much is it Rob?

Don't worry, there is policy for cases like this. They mark it as ''customer return-repaired unit'' and you don't have to pay again. It happened to me with a defective camera.
