A public service announcement regarding TIDAL on our devices

Currently, TIDAL (builds starting from 2.87.1 that included Max level FLACs) does not seem to be working properly for devices of Android version 10 or below.
I included my investigation results (how I arrived at this conclusion) here: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/tidal-lossless-streaming.733233/page-340#post-17695132

One solution is for us to upgrade all our DAPs to 11 and up, but as some of you know, our ability to do update the Android version is pretty much tied to the SoC used and the SDK provided. 😅

Another solution, since the app does allow installation on all our DAPs ranging down to Android 6, is for TIDAL to make use of the info given above to debug the app for older versions of Android, so that they will actually run properly on devices they would install on. 😀

As of this writing, the last TIDAL version I tested that functioned properly, was 2.86.0 . I include a link to its installer here
https://d.apkpure.com/b/APK/com.aspiro.tidal?versionCode=1121

I will try to update here when this issue has been resolved.

Best regards,
Joe

Hi Joe.
I think the R62020 totally deserves an Android 11 update! Is it a hardware limit that's stopping that from happening?
Thanks

Hello . Can we change the battery on this by ourselves or do we have to send it to HIby
It depends on your hardware skills. 3rd party batteries are available but this unit is not exactly easy to disassemble and replace battery of.

That would be great.

I read a head-fi review vs the gen 3 and most of the complaints were os issues that I personally haven't experienced so it's not really helpful for me. Guessing something like the RS6 would be a more significant upgrade in the long run anyways.

I have a problem when I use the volume control, I hear a distinct crackling noise at all outputs. Does anyone have any ideas?
Hi, to rule out a software problem, can you try factory resetting the device?

Yes, nothing has changed.
ok, it is possible that the internal volume controller has malfunctioned. Can you email hello@hiby.com with the following:

"Hi,

R6 2020 user here. I have an issue with my device where when I adjust the volume I hear a distinct crackling noise at all outputs. Per rep Joe Blogg's suggestion I have factory reset my device and the issue persists. Is this a hardware fault with the internal volume controller?"

add any personal and purchase information you have to the above.

Thanks!

@Joe Bloggs - Will r6 2020 get global peq like the newer hiby daps? Do you also plan global eq and global gain control in future software updates? This would finally allow for full sound correction capabilities while using the native tidal application, I mean offline mode. I believe that hiby music solutions are currently the best. Don't you want to extend this project to PC? :)
