Yes, I tried both force stop and disabling the app. None of this worked. And today - same situation, wireless headphones, Poweramp - I used the skip button on th HiBy (the physical one) and it also triggered HiBy Music to open :/. Maybe I'll just reinstall Poweramp, before trying system reinstall.
Perhaps try Clear Data on the HiBy Music app instead.

What is the expected life cycle for Hiby DAPs? Does anyone know if there is an R5 gen 3 in development?

I have a gen 2 for use as a transport into Mojo 2, but I think I want a DAP with a faster chip and newer Android. Wondering whether to get an R6iii or hold out for a possible R5iii.

I updated my Tidal app to the newest version, which incorporates Flac, but some albums (the ones I know that have been actually converted to Flac) are not playing at all. Does anyone know if this is a fault of the app or my R5 Gen 2?

Not sure but my original R5 is doing the same thing with the new Tidal app.

I wrote an email to Hiby's customer service at hello@hiby.com and they replied pretty fast, saying they'll let their engineers know about this issue. It'd be great if you and everyone who's experiencing this issue can write them, so they can prioritize it.

I guess there are really two issues with Hiby. One is that the Tidal app doesn't play the hires at all (never starts playing). The second is that the Tidal integration in the Hiby Player is still only using MQA.

Does anyone have any updates on Tidal's issues? Mine's still not playing any FLAC files 😒
We're looking into it 🤕 Unfortunately Tidal is not the most responsive when it comes to tech support on a B2B level.

Nope, mine is not playing the FLAC files, either. High Res is ok but if I use the Hiby App to play Tidal everything works IF the Hiby App doesn't crash and burn. Overall, this is my first DAP and I won't ever buy a Chinese DAP again. Too many glitches, slow operation, and issues. When it works it works well. Just too often I have problems.

You won't face glitches with a smartphone, unfortunately it also won't play bit-perfect most of the time. Often I wonder if it is even worth our time customizing Android to do this thing that it seems to absolutely refuse to do reliably without throwing a tantrum in other ways (bit-perfect over most apps, while some others simply crash and burn) but it seems that we are stuck doing this as a distinguishing feature whether we like it or not. I found that there's some other DAPs (not our brand or software developed by us) that are in the same boat regarding TIDAL at the moment. Over in the TIDAL thread itself they haven't yet pinned down the exact cause of these issues which are not isolated to us (to be fair, neither have we)

edit: can I check if you are using TIDAL 2.88.1 or later?

2.87.1.1125.12180. Looks like I touched a nerve and I appreciate your frustration. I love the device when it works but I run into quirky things often. It's not your fault Tidal changed their formatting to which you have to adjust. But I'm just to the point where I can play from my phone or MacBook, use a DAC and AMP and get what I need. I'd say with my Hiby R5II, about 50% of the time I use it for an hour to two without issue. Some issues resolve themselves, some require a reboot, some I just turn it off and give up and come back in a few days to try again. I like the Hiby player/app but it's hit or miss on when or how it works, as well.
