Received my R5 gen 2 today , listening from the sd card, via the Hiby app, I notice the music drops out in places. Anyone have this issue ?
What are your music formats?

You mean listening to your own files, not streaming over WiFi?

If so, then no drop outs for me. When you first get it it does seem to do a lot of background intensive stuff that can cause music glitches but after the first restart not had issues since.

I reviewed the Hiby R5 Gen 2.

Complaints:
  • Still Android 8.1
  • Uses the same Snapdragon 425 that was in the R5s -- same exact performance
    • Performance for the Hiby app is good; for streaming apps, it gets a bit chunky.

What are your thoughts on terms of sound quality versus the R5s? I'm on the fence about either after the recent mini reviews..

I’m interested in the R5 gen2, and its description leaves me with a question. Is anyone familiar with how UAP (high-res Bluetooth) is implemented? It’s stated to be 2-way. If the R5 is the source, what is an example of the client, and are UAP clients even available? What would be an example of the R5 as client?

UAT clients would mostly be HiBy branded Bluetooth devices such as the WH2, WH3, W1, W3 and W5. Other UAT hosts should mostly be smartphones running HiByMusic.

In case anyone in in Europe (or better yet: Germany) is looking for a R5 (Gen 2) - let me know!

I bought it last month, but realized I do not want to carry a separate device to play music. Happy to make a good deal on it

Yea… I get you. I’m using a dongle with my iPhone now, only occasionally wishing I could provide more power to my planar IEMs, and contemplating carrying something larger or how often I’d actually use the R5-2. Still, it looks to be the ultimate portable source for less than $500…

… or do I continue to save up for Sennheiser IE600s?

So as much as I like it being protected, I ended up ditching the case as it blocks the buttons too much from being able to use them “blindly”. One minor annoyance has come up with my unit. I’ve had some sticking buttons with both the power button as well as volume buttons. Anyone else have this issue?

Powering the planars would be a good use case for this unit in Class A mode.
