I would suggest either tbe ibasso or the fiio. Don't get me wrong, the r5g2 isn't bad, but if you want to get some nice eq, like a wavelet profile, or have it feel fast for longer, the ibasso or fiio would be tbe ones I suggest. The hiby does look real nice though.
Thanks. I am not favouring any player. I just want it to sound good and be a little future proof. I appreciate your unbiased opinions.

Ive been leaning towards the ibasso myself to try it out. One thing I see about it is the cpu is a rockchip, said to be good and last long. The fiio has a10 with a good cpu. For just sound wise, the r5g2 with class a amp being an option can add sound that the other daps at this point don't have. It is a bit warmer to me, somewhat clearer, and bass response comes a bit nicer.

Hmm yes...choices choices....barring the tempotec V6 all the others are in a similar price bracket. My dealer told me not to go with Fiio as it sounds very cold and clinical as opposed to Hiby. At the same time Hiby has the ancient A8.1 as opposed to Ibasso and Fiio. If the Class A would not make a huge difference with my iems I would just go with the Tempotec V6 and save about 100 $ plus. Decisions...decisions :)

You probably already know this, but system-wide PEQ apps like Wavelet and Poweramp Equalizer do not work on Android 8.

Does that mean the Fiio M11s will support system wide eq. For instance if I need to eq spotify will it work ?

I've had de ibasso DX170 for 1 week but decided to return it and bought de hiby r52. The main reason for me was battery, with headphone low volume flac/mqa I had a battery of around 5 hours... For me thats not acceptable because after 1 or 2 years thats gonna be even less...
Soundwise for me the quality of both player is good, the DX170 had a little more emotional vibe to it, the r52 is a little more technical. But when you enable the class a it gets warmer, for some headphones this is great for some I like the economy mode better.

The sound of the DX170 was a little more to my taste but the battery is one big no no! The battery of the r52 even in class a is much better.

The old android is a shame but everything works great now, I don't stream much but even that works out of the box. I like the mangoplayer of ibasso more but the hiby app is very close.

The MSEB is another positive selling point of the hiby, some headphone need a little more warmth even after enabling the class a, with MSEB this is easy and system wide 👌

So to me the hiby is the better player because of the MSEB and the battery the sound is 98% of the DX170 so close enough, it's emotional vs neutral (which you can change enabling class a with MSEB).
