Thank you for putting this information out. I am currently trying to make the decision between the R5g2 and the R4. Leaning more towards the R5 for battery. Could you please kindly post a picture of the sound plugins that the device can currently take after the mentioned update? Also can they be added manually if not available OTA? Thank you very much.
All plugins are available across the board, with the exception of a plugin called "Mastermind" dedicated to the RS8.

@Joe Bloggs, do I need a particular kind of USB-C to USB-C cord to connect a Google pixel phone to the hiby?
If you're having trouble in the sense that the wrong device becomes nominated as host, you may fix this by using a USB OTG adapter, and a regular USB A to C cable, instead of a direct C2C cable.

I tried 5 different c to c cables that have issues but work on my shanling
is your shanling an android device or not? An android device (such as both the pixel and the r5) usually acts as the host, unless unequivocally signalled to be the client. Not so with a non-android device, which may perhaps only ever act as the client.

M3u android 10. Problem is the r5 f3 doesn't seem to have its own toggle to force act as the dac

Hi everyone, I have the opportunity to buy this DAP at a very reasonable price and it’s in perfect condition. I’m interested in using it solely for listening to music from Tidal, both streaming and downloading. However, I’m a bit concerned about the outdated Android system.

Does it work flawlessly with Tidal? Are the downloads fast? Does it support bit-perfect streaming without any issues?

I’m also considering waiting for the Hiby R4, which seems to be currently unavailable in my country. What do you think?

I listen to mine roughly 2-3 hours per month, stream Tidal, download speeds are fine and I’m in no hurry. Based on your questions you seek validation for a purchase. It’s a good DAP, and if you’re getting what you feel is a good deal I say go for it. However, if you’re a super user and have even a mild case of DAP envy or wanderlust buck up and purchase a newer and higher end device. Mine never leaves the home. I paid full price when new and I don’t regret it. It’s a tad slow compared to others I would guess but it works great overall with a strong battery. I don’t have $5k headphones so if it isn’t bit perfect so what. I love my sound quality.

Thanks, it seems that uses Android 8.1… it’s my main concern… the Store and Tidal App Still working Without any issues?

No worries here. Initially, I had to use the Hiby app to stream HiRes from Tidal but one of the updates allowed me to return to the Tidal app and it’s been perfect since.
Thanks again. Can you confirm if Tidal works offline? I only want this device for this purpose. Also, s it too slow to work with several playlists and navigate through album?
