Lets' hope fewer bugs at launch than in the case of R2 Gen.2.

Hi all, need some help/ideas. My R3 Pro Saber will not power up/switch on! Charged it with my normal USB-C charger and no light comes up on the side of the unit. Very confused!?
Try holding down the power button, AND the volume down button for 10 to 15 seconds...

- If that does not work, try charging with a low power USB charges, one rated 500ma or less... Like original USB 1 ports. from an old laptop... If battery is "too" dead, sometimes they won't accept or evet start charging from higher power sources...

2 ideas to try...

I have just joined the R3 Pro Saber 2022 club for some very specific reasons :
-> the 100g (with an extra cash clip sticked to it for hanging) is not an big issue to replace my FIIO BTR7, UP4(2022) or iFi Go blu to be able to sleep an whole night with it hanging on my T Shirt collar.
-> the battery playing time seems to be comparable to the iFi Go Blu (10 to 11hours in BT LDAC/990kbps receiver mode) which is far better than the two other BT receivers (between 5 to 6 hours max).
-> the combo with the Sennheiser IE600 (most comfortable IEM for sleeping on the side) offers a convincing sound quality, without any permanent background hiss at low volume level like the iFi Go Blu has.
Unfortunately, I was expecting with Qobuz, I would be able to use offline my playlists for long intercontinental planes.. but the R3 Pro Saber has a very limited version of Qobuz player with no offline playlists management on SD.

Basically, I have one question concerning the double ES9219 DAC, as it's not clear if the second DAC is activated
-> only for MQA16x decoding ?
-> only with if hi gain is activated ?
Maybe it's just a placebo effect, as it's not easy to do a direct A/B comparison, but I feel sound quality is significantly improved at same volume pressure, when Hi Gain is activated (at least with better/deeper, maybe more textured lower frequencies) => is this possible ? with the Shanling UP4 2022 the second DAC is clearly only activated with setting high gain and sound impacts is similar on lower frequencies..

Any ideas on this point ?

Is that a Fiio cable?
How did you get it to fit the IE600?

When I tried my FH3 cable with the IE600 it didn't fit. Looks like you've removed the red and blue bits though so maybe that answers my question.

Exactly, I use some FIIO cable with removed red and blue rings for Senhheiser IE900 & IE600 ...

https://www.dropbox.com/s/u9jwfvb1bwhhn19/R3 Theme Tool.zip?dl=0 I use this theme editor over the one hiby provides as I have never gotten theirs to work.
I wonder if there is an emulator for the R2ii as well... I got it a few days ago and had a ton of fun editing and changing some of the icons, but it's too cumbersome and unnecessary wear on the chip to change one thing and flash the .upt, change again, flash again. Also, if there is not a pre-made emulator, is it possible to modify the R3 emulator to match the R2ii?

For anyone interested, have both Hiby R3 Pro and Hiby R3 II.
Sound wise I don't feel any significant difference, I mean R3 Pro was already good, R3 II is as good at least, if not better.
Click wheel - definitely not a fan of this, but still find it convenient. I would prefer thou it had lower profile (like Hidizs AP80, for example).
Change from 2.5 to 4.4 output is really nice. 2.5 feels very fragile, 4.4 on other hand is very sturdy - love it.
Missing 5Hz wifi support is just... why? R3 Pro had it, why downgrade?
New UI - idk, it has that novelty feel to it, but it was not necessary. And I don't really think new UI is better than old one.
The definitive highlight for me is USB DAC mode - it was fixed at last! No more horrible delayed sound output.
Also, while physical dimensions of R3 Pro and R3 II are almost the same, somehow R3 II feels much more bulky. Due to bigger battery and added weight I guess?
So, unless you really want to use USB DAC or need more powerful output I don't think R3 II will be a substantial upgrade. Tbh, if USB DAC feature was fixed for og R3 Pro I think I might skip R3 II completely and wait for theoretical R3 II Pro.

Note: soft click sounds I have during listen to Tidal/Qobuz streams to HiBy WU1 BT neckband are related to system resource race and not related to connection quality. Those clicks appear with UI interactions, touching to screen or navigating on user interface. I guess that is low RAM issue or something similar.
I believe HiBy will drop Ingenic X1000/E platform and moves to X2000/E like Shanling does.

So here is my 'antenna mod' I made on this June for R3Pro Saber 2022. It works good now with long distance from DAP to BT device even with LDAC 990 :)

So, the Hiby R3 II came to me. To be honest, I'm surprised by the price of almost $200, because it's a downgrade in all parameters, except autonomy, compared to Hiby R3 Pro (I have the first version with Cirrus Logic).
1. The size of the R3 II is straight up noticeably larger. Weight is also a little more (by 20 grams), but it is not critical. But the size is very noticeable. Thanks to this, the player lies more comfortably in your hand, but it is less convenient to carry it in your pocket. It doesn't help in this case and very strongly protruding twist, which clings to your clothes.
2. Twiddles and wheels in players are the worst invention of mankind. I've yet to see a single player that I've picked up and said: "Wow, a wheel or twist is so cool, so convenient, I've dreamed of it all my life". If on my Hidizs Ap80 Pro-X the wheel turns hard and occasionally sticks, you need to use two fingers and pray that it will work, then on R3 II the wheel literally turns at the slightest breeze, changing the volume back and forth depending on the wind direction, so the first thing you need to do after buying the player is to go to the settings and disable the wheel when the screen is off, otherwise you'll be tormented by the fact that the wheel in your pocket lives its own life and the volume changes at every step.
3. Sound. Since my Hiby R3 Pro suddenly died a few months ago, I can't compare the sound directly. But from memory, it seems like the sound is about the same or slightly worse. At least I didn't get the wow effect from the sound that I had when I bought the R3 Pro. I think the sound is about the same, maybe the R3 II is a little louder.
4. The screen on the R3 II is bigger than the R3 Pro. But it is very dim. I didn't even expect to see such a thing in a modern player for such money. For example, in Hidizs Ap80 Pro-X for $130 the screen is about three times brighter, and in Fiio M3 Pro for $80 the screen is about four times brighter. And if on the street in cloudy weather I put the brightness of 20-30% on Hidizs, then here I have to put all 100%, and on a sunny day you can't see anything on the screen at all. This is strange, as the R3 Pro screen was much brighter and had enough brightness reserve on any day. In addition to low brightness, the screen also has not very good viewing angles, with a slight tilt the screen already fades.
5. The touchscreen responds to heat, not electricity. Another downgrade in order to cheapen production. I have one of these on my $80 Fiio M3 Pro. Doesn't respond when using styluses or any touch gloves. In severe frost below -20 Celsius does not respond to anything at all, not even a finger.
6. Autonomy in R3 Pro was excellent, in the new player is even better, apparently in consequence of the increased battery. Alas, the R3 Pro had a very capricious battery - it didn't charge from any charger, got very warm while charging, could suddenly switch off in the cold, and one fine summer day it just suddenly died without any preconditions. Let's see how R3 II will show itself, but it's too early to tell - I've had the player for only three days and during this time I haven't even charged it once.
7. Hiby OS with each new version becomes more beautiful but inconvenient. Hiby R3 II has taken a new high in this regard. For example, to simply change the screen brightness, you have to swipe backwards about ten times (to get to the main menu), then go to settings, find the brightness there and adjust the slider. Why not add a brightness slider in the curtain, as on all normal players - only the Chinese know. And "swipe back ten times to get to the main menu, where there are settings" - this annoys me in general on all players with Hiby OS.

I think that if you own R3 Pro - there is no point in upgrading. If you don't own it and are thinking about buying a player.... think twice. R3 II is good in sound (like R3 Pro), but it has enough shortcomings in other aspects.
