Hiby R3 ii new firmware 1.3 available OTA
Anyone know what sound field is/does?

Too bad!! I trialed the R3 II, but decided I liked my R3 Pro Saber better. It is more compact, didn't like the new volume knob although it did not feel fragile or unstable, and most importantly for me, the R3 II shows less album art early on than the Pro Saber. Build quality seemed as good. I didn't get to comparing the battery life --maybe the less album art is to reduce battery consumption. If I smashed mine, I'd shop for another Pro Saber (optionally, the 2020 edition).Hi all,
My original Hiby R3 got smashed up, and I’m looking to fix or replace it.
Can anyone who owns both gen 1 and gen 2 tell me if the build quality of gen 2 is is as good as the first? I really don’t like the look of that big plasticky knob - it looks fragile and likely to accidentally move in the pocket.
Sow how does it compare to R3 i in the hand? What are the buttons like? Reviews suggest 25% less battery life - is this true?
Any help greatly appreciated. I’m super sad about breaking my Hiby - we’ve been through a lot. Cheers.

I also got the M300, and decided that was a keeper as well.
Good luck recovering your original satisfaction.
I just wish the R3 Pro Saber was 4.4mm for balanced, I agree about volume knob.Too bad!! I trialed the R3 II, but decided I liked my R3 Pro Saber better. If you connect and disconnect, it will connect to AAC. This is a bug that impacts every device running HibyOS that I have tested so far.Received an R3 II today, scanned my MicroSD, and then tried using it as a BT receiver to my phone.
Even after selecting 'AAC' as the codec, it ONLY displays that it is using SBC 44.1KHz. I am connected to an iPhone. On my BTR7 and anything else, iPhones have always transferred (very well mind you) over AAC.
So Hiby, what do you reckon is going on?
I’m glad for the solution (thank you) but that’s a bit rubbish… hopefully it remembers for a while before needing it again, I’m planning on using this as a BT receiver ready to go after it boots far more often than as a local file player. If you connect and disconnect, it will connect to AAC. Sorry to say, but this is precisely the reason why I don't use R3II (or any other HiBy OS device until R3II) as a bluetooth receiver as an iPhone user. If you use Android phone with LDAC, things are much better. You just need to choose LDAC in the setting and the device would automatically connect to LDAC all the time.I’m glad for the solution (thank you) but that’s a bit rubbish… hopefully it remembers for a while before needing it again, I’m planning on using this as a BT receiver ready to go after it boots far more often than as a local file player.
Mine changed automatically (grabbed the correct time through WiFi?) and stayed at the correct time after the upgrade…@Joe Bloggs I'm noticing one bug with Firmware 1.3.
I changed the time to reflect the time change here in the US. When I shut the player off and turn it back on, the time goes back to what it originally was before I switched it.
I’ll go back to my BTR7 and resell this then. @HiByMusic any plans on fixing this soon? Nothing wrong with the BTR7… But why did you even consider the R3 if you don’t need the DAP feature?I’ll go back to my BTR7 and resell this then. @HiByMusic any plans on fixing this soon? Plenty of iPhone users out there…
Because adding local files as a function while barely having a larger device seems like an improvement, even if I only use it now and then. I didn’t realize one of the advertised functions wouldn’t work properly.Nothing wrong with the BTR7… But why did you even consider the R3 if you don’t need the DAP feature?
Also note that if you have the hotspot feature enabled on your iPhone, AirPlay is an alternative to BT.
