Now to wait and see how this all pans out. Yes to wait.

Ordered one. Maybe my F1 will be rubbed out! You think?

Well, lets take the two scenarios we have here.

Yours are perfect, some are not, like mine. If you take care of yours and don't abuse them, don't get any rubs, dings, or scratches on them. Then yours will be worth more than mine if resale were to become necessary. Basically a lot of Grados are sold as A-Stock but are really B-Stock. I'll have to disclose all the bangs, nicks, rubs, etc.

I don't know if you buy 2nd hand gear, I do. I take off for every frayed cord or dinged cup. That effects the value. It detracts from new. I suspect if you buy 2nd hand gear you do the same. If I buy a car and it has scratched paint, sun faded upholstery and dinged fenders, those blemishes count off the price I will pay. It is still a car, as you would be quick to point out. But when I go to sell that beat up car, rest assured, the next buyer will want to discount those detractions. Only in the AudioPhool world is this even a conversation. Would you accept a Mercedes, BMW, or even a Honda as new if the fender was creased? It's ludicrous to defend slipshod work.

My choices?

1) Send them back
2) Keep them
3) Sell them now or later and disclose that mine are Facto Dinged like a bunch of them out there.

They do sound great and my plans are to keep them. However, it remains
a shame that the company:

Can't spell
Can't engrave and QC their work
Can't Glue something together without slopping Glue about
Can't work with delicate surfaces without banging them about
Can't resolve a problem without making it worse

I do enjoy listening to them though...

.

+1

If it was not a limited edition headphones specially made for Head-F1, Crado could lost all sales on them...

Too bad it is often happens that some people treat their close "friends" or relatives, worse then total strangers, as they now it would be forgiven to them.
Maybe it is not completely relevant in this situation but such "gifts" leave bad after taste for sure.

For close to $500 it is totally unacceptable in my book and if mine come in like that, they will be going back or sold to somebody here that really wants them. I think tomorrow will be 11 weeks since I placed my order...

How I figure: all Grados are B-stock. And, probably, are priced as such. Since the HF-2 was priced at $430 with the current Grado production & QC, instituting more rigorous (and pricier) QC would drive up the total cost, and thus the price for everybody, especially the A-stock 'phones.

Now, all this is fine by me, since I'd probably buy B-stock anyway. However, if you're going to complain about Grado, ask yourself whether you'd be happier buying a B-stock HF-2 with full warranty for $430 or a theoretical A-stock for $600 or so. Right now, you're getting the best of both worlds, and maybe your 'phone will even get there in mint condition.

I really, really hope you don't sent back a limited-edition 'phone you like just because it has some cosmetic defects.

My HF-2's are with UK customs .. i expect the ransom note to come tomorrow. You pay the ransom then organise a 'drop'! At least UK post-office has a sense of humour.

you are such a winer, man! Chill!

No grado is perfect. Sure, they have different mistakes, because they are assembled by hand, so each pair varies. But what varies more than their build quality, is the reason their owner bought them in the first place. Mine look perfect until I scrutinize them.

Also, retail for limited edition grados is not affected by these issues. Look at the HP1000, lettering or no lettering doesn't really affect the price.

If I didn't have not having an HF-2 yet to bitch about, all I would have to bitch about is my job and the heat.

FedEx delivered my HF2s a day early! Just plopped them on my head. They sound heavenly. Couple of small blemishes/nicks. Nothing I'm worried about.

They sure have gobs of bass... Not in a bad way, just lots of it.

Now if only I could manage this stiff cable a bit better

C'mon, grawk.

Selling the set for 2K, and then soliciting it here?

Isn't this the kind of act you, as one of the moderators, would be jumping all over?

Just providing options

But I'll edit it out...

Now anyone can sell their pair for anything they think is fair and it will seem reasonable.
