Reviews seem to differ on this though. The aforementioned ljokerl review post lists them both as 8/10 for value, and only fractionally different on sound. Although I would go for Gold rather than Copper, as I prefer a bass heavier sound.

Gold sounds smoother. It is the in-between of the MD and the Copper. If you want a large presence of bass without influencing other sound spectrums, definitely go for the Coppers. If you want something smoother (a fuller bodied sound signature), go for the Gold.
