  The V-Moda's would certainly meet his basshead needs, though the consensus seems to be that they're overpriced based on their sound. I can't comment though, I haven't heard them. 

Overpriced if you are looking for neutral/flat audiophile sound. Amazing buy if you are even just slightly basshead. really depends on your musical preferences, because the M100 has great bass + great clarity & detail & sound stage for a v-shaped FR.

It is just the Pro700 MK2 and Pro 700. The Pro700 MK2 is the upgraded version of the Pro700.

Yes there are other options but if you want to keep it simple then just go with the Pro700. I was like you and did so much research and in the end I ended up right back at the Pro700.

Also check out this portable amp. It's a little more than the E11,$40 more actually but I hear it's an amazing amp and it's EQ and bass boost work extremely well. I'm more than likely going to purchase it as it's supposed to be a ton better than the E11 at only $100. It's the C&C BH2.

The most incredible bass I've ever experienced is with the Sennheiser HD800. Just amazing!! You will need a good amplifier though.
