Please :) Here's what I've got lined up so far:

Closed:
1. AKG K271 MKII
2. Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO
3. Sennheiser HD25-II
4. Audio-Technica ATH-ES7
5. Audio-Technica ATH-M50

Open:
1. Grado SR225
2. Sennheiser HD595

No amp, will use on my Marantz CD player, laptop at home and ocassionaly iPod on the go.

Aesthetically I'm leaning towards the K271 MKII's and HD25-II's.

My music library mostly consists of indie rock, rock, punk and some electronica. Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, Pixies, Modest Mouse, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, Bob Dylan, The Dead Weather, TV On The Radio, The National, Radiohead and so on.

Well, if you like the HD25-1 aesthetic, I'd get those. They're supposed to be very good sounding and have great isolation. I imagine the aesthetic is the only thing not to like.

However, I can attest to great performance from Grados with almost all of your listed bands.

2. Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO

3. Sennheiser HD25-II

Those are the two that I would go for the beyerdynamic as far as the comfort and sound go. They are both great choices.

For Beyers, if you had to buy one, I'd buy mine

Why do you have two threads of the same question?

Thank's for the advice. Went ahead and ordered the HD25-II's (closed, no amp required, quite portable, interesting looking (in my opinion)), anyone know if the markings on the headband are removable?
Love the look on the old HD200's but from what I've read here they seem to be quite crap. Cheers!
