Everything has to do with personal preference. I know people who think an LCD2 sounds better than a Susvara - to each his own

But it isn't that easy to make that decision.

Fiio K9 Pro for me. I had been running the HEDDphones off speaker taps via an HE adapter, but it's only now I have the K9 that I realise that a purpose-built headphone amp is way better.

Does Fiio k9 pro be able to drive the hedd in adequate levels?

With my HEDDphone one till now I used a Monolith THX887, Less BX2+, Xduoo XD-05+, Centrance M8V2, a Speakers Amp Sony TAN 55-ES, A&K Kann Alpha, Oriolus BA300s and now FIIO M17.
Though we can get a high volume level with most of the amps, only those with more than 2x3W at 42 ohms can move properly the HEDDphone to offer fast deep clear impacts in low and ultra low frequencies .. like real kicks.

So, now, I mainly use the Monolith Thx887 and the Fiio M17 (in DC enhanced mode only) ... they both can move properly the HEDDphone One.
The Less BX2+ can do it too, but it's too bulky and far too low battery life to be comfortable to be used on a long term.
The Speakers amp Sony can do the job for sure, but it's even the less convenient system to be used (huge and heavy).

None of my other quite powerful daps or amps, can be consistent enough for all types of music and DSD to be used at a "realistic" sound level which makes music alive and impressive !

So, though 2x1.4W should be like an access point for the HEDDphone One, I would think that 2x3W at 42ohms is something like a significant step to reach the highest sound quality with the HEDDphone......
I am thinking, that It's like for the DCA Stealth, those atypical headphones are really power angry to reach their best, though you can get some high volume level with less power.
