Hello, I need to buy some headphones only for studio purpose. I have a friend that uses DT770 and suggested me to start with AKG K-121 Studio. It's not absolutely necessary to be opened headphones but I heard that a studio pair that's closed would be more expensive. I would appreciate some help about this...

No, closed is not necessarily more expensive. Shure 440 got rave reviews in a sound on sound magazine studio phone shoot out....would fit your budget.  I think you mean k271? for recording the sony v6 will work fine....for even less $$.

No...I was refering to the AKG K-121 Studio, the K270 are over my buget easily. So now there are 3 to pick from: the K-121's, Sony V6's and Shure 440's. The V6's and the 440's are about the same $$$, does the k-121 worth the difference??

I don't think they can be beat for their sale price, but they are more "fun" than studio headphones.

Save more money and get the K-240MKll new, or used, the second option will be the M-50 on ebay, for around 95 + shipping.

If you're just using them for recording pick up a v6 or 440. You don't need to spend over $100. Buy used and spend even less. The v6 is on ebay all the time second hand. Never heard the m50 myself. FWIR it's supposed to be bass heavy though.... Sound on sound magazine preferred the shure 440 over the m50....not that their word should be taken as Gospel.

These (K240) are pretty popular among studio engineers from what I understand.  They are not over your budget.  M50s have been recommended by some engineers too although its hard to buy them for under 100 nowadays.

If I were to go into a studio, which would be a first, at that price I would bring the K 240 MKII or the MDR-V6. The ATH-M50 have slightly too much bass in my mind, and the SRH440 are slightly too bright. I have never heard the K 121 and they don't seem easy to buy.

What?!? ATH-M50 has too much bass(well maybe for some)?!? Than how in the world will you bring up MDR-V6 if ATh-M50 is too much bass(V6 has related bass)? You have got to be kidding me...

What in the world are you going on about? Anyway, the V6 or Akg K240S would be decent choices in your range.

For the moment I'm thinking of buying V6's more than k240's because of the shipping price...I'm from Eastern Europe and the shipping is killing me. So V6>k240s>m50>shure 440, something like that?? I've read a review of head-fi about the V6 but the conclusion was not so cheering. Still, taking the price in consideration, they're the best option so far.

I have no experience with V6, but I can't imagine they could beat K240's (I'm pretty certain they're not in the same league)
 
Strange about shipping costs thomann. To my country it's 8 euro's, but it's free shipping when you spend >100 euros. K240's are 95, so try adding something cheap that makes the total above 100, see if shipment's free then. It's worth a shot.

How is the price where you are on the 440's? They'd beat out the v6 for neutrality....at least according to almost everything I've read. Search the forum about those... and Sound on sound magazine online. Great review of those! If you want 'flat' the v6 is far from ideal IMO....I've compared them to other studio phones costing quite a lot more.
