Too right, Fairdinkum as the Okkers say. That is LOrdGywn's Airmid. Best sounding triode amp I have owned. Your in for treat with his stufff. Wish I was in the area. would be a blast to hear and play with all that stuff. My Airmid in a Cranberry Red!
I will be there between 1130-12...Had something come up this morning that took a little longer to get taken care of than anticipated....Really looking forward to seeing and hearing a lot of the gear.
I’ve been having trouble sleeping, but I’m packing my HiBy R6 Pro DAP, HD 560S, HD 820, Fostex Purpleheart, and Apos Caspian into the car. I just checked if there was requests for anything else… didn’t see (with my sleepy eyes).
@bevanc got any amps with 4.4mm Pentaconn connectors? I think I’ll bring a 4.4mm to XLR adapter anyway, but just asking.
What a meet!! There was like 15 guys and a gal, possibly more before I got there, and much friendly sharing. It’s funny too, because everyone was soft-spoken, an unwritten rule to let people listen, but animatedly soft spoken
Looking forward to a Pittsburgh Head-Fi’ers thread for discussion between meets, and the next meet!
Welp, I confirmed that the left channel of my 006tA is broken. No output, and just static fuzz noises. The problem occurred late in the meet, and it seems like the tube for the left channel has gone bad. My amp was being run at much higher output levels than I normally run it at, and these tubes are likely some 15 years old. Press F to pay respects.
It's fortunate that I also brought along my SRM-D10, because it allowed a few people to listen to the electrostats for a bit more after the 006t failed. On the bright side, this means I can dive into the world of tube rolling and acquire a few NOS tubes to swap them out with. There's always something new to learn, and while I studied some electrical engineering in college, I'm young enough that my education didn't include anything about tube electronics.
