At work I love my schiit vahalla/bifrost 650 setup.  I would like to set up something similar for music listening at home.  I have some Klipsch bookshelf speakers that I would like to use in addition to headphones.  I was excited by the McIntosh mha100 product until I saw the price of $4,500.

There must be good solutions that I can use at home for both headphones and bookshelf speakers.  Any suggestions?  I'd love to find a tube amp setup but I would like to understand what is available.

Thx!

What about Glow Audio amps - anyone have any experience with these?

The Glow amp has had a lot of good reviews and its owners seem to really like it.

I found the Sophia Electric Baby Amp is a good choice ($1,000) especially if you use inefficient cans like the HifiMan HE-6, which by the way sound great with the Baby Amp.

You do need two resistor arrays across the left and right binding post to protect the headphones and of course an adapor from speaker connections to headphone connections.

Good luck!

Eddie Current Super 7 is a good choice:

I fully agree on the EC Super 7. It is a very good amp for the price and it has the flexibility of delivering very good sound with the HD800, Fostex TH-900, LCD2/3 and the HE-6 with adequate power, which most of the amps do not have. It does not quite have the sophisticated sound of the Woo WA5, EAR PH-4, GS-X mark2 or the Bakoon but for the price, it is hard to do better.

There are also a number of members who enjoy good results using vintage integrated amps or receivers to drive headphones and speakers.

I have a 1974 Pioneer SA-7100 = 20 wpc amp that works very well!

Simply get an integrated amplifier with a headphone output, HD650's will work great out of it. No need to go into something exotic.
