For North America, probablly at the end of Oct. or Nov.
If cash allowed, you can get a 801 before the 901 coming out.

After all, there is a bit of difference between them. Besides, the 901 is NOT a complete successor of 801.
As I know so far, the 801 is more like a portable player. And the 901, oops, secret...

I can say both are wothy the money you gonna pay.

I thought you had stopped making the 801? can I still buy one? and do you know anyone
in the UK who stocks them or can get one?
can I buy one from Head-Direct?

801 is still for sale, and you can easily get one in UK from some our dealers like Ampcity, Advanced MP3 Players, HighEnd Workshop, and iHeadphones.
Or directly get one at head-direct.com

Ampcity is closing down - http://www.ampcity.co.uk
Advanced MP3 players don't sell the 801 - http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=1&pfrom=5&pto=549&filter_manuf[]=418#guide_result
HIend workshop (who I have dealt with before and are superb) don't list any HIFIman products - http://www.highendworkshop.co.uk/about-highend-workshop.asp
IHeadphones (terrible, terrible name) don't sell any HIFIman products - http://www.iheadphones.co.uk/

you need a decent dealer in the UK. I think I might start one just so I can buy an 801!

so there is no-one in the UK who appears to sell the 801

One recommendation I would like to make is for hifiman to include small paper instruction with the he-400. I did not know they were rotatable until a guy in head fi pointed it out to me and he told me it took him couple days to figure it out too. Also I feel that it is a bit difficult to change the ear pad on these headphone. Other than that great product! Great headphone!

KT66, why don't want to buy from head-direct.com? They have two models of the 601 and the 801 available, right on the front page.

because, we get slaughtered for duty, import charges and VAT, and if it goes wrong, I will face the same charges again!

@Eric,

After a couple of weeks with the new HE400 with new driver revision, I have to say it has way to much treble compared to the older version (which I returned due to a driver defect).

Please give this feedback to Dr Bian and the Hifiman engineering team, as it's really important that they don't tune this headphone into something worse than how it was before and ruin its building reputation. ALL current reviews of HE400s describe it as dark with slight treble sparkle, but the new revision of HE400s are clearly not that, and are just plain hot in the treble.

Thanks!
