Ya. Great detail, great refresh from other hps, but overall, so far I like the 262 more.

My new set up. The Dell Venue Pro 8 as a source using foobar and electriQ, Modi+Vali+Emotiva, IEMS in the back, HD 650+ my new HE-400.

I was alittle upset my HE-400s didn't come in the box, it came in the travelling case, can't complain I guess it's more practical, but still wanted the box :D. The Emotiva runs great on the HE-400 very neutral just raw power, the vali can't power the HE-400's not even close.

I prefer the Vali to the Emotiva on the HE-4, so I would have to disagree with your last statement.

I HEAR PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT DIFFERENT AMPS TO DRIVE THE HE-4'S, IVE BEEN USING THE HIFIMAN EF5 FOR A YEAR NOW AND IT SOUNDS GREAT WITH PLENTY OF POWER.
I JUST LOVE MY HE-4 WITH THE MUSIC STREAMER II+ AND EF5

See that small key labeled 'Caps Lock' on the left hand side of your keyboard?  If you hit that you won't SHOUT at everyone anymore.

Good for you if the EF-5 works, with the HE-4, never tried it myself.  People I trust tell me that for the HE-6 it's not enough but then the 4 is 86 dB and the 6 83.5 so who knows?

Emotiva is gone, have my pioneer still, have 350 to spend, project ember or schiit bifrost first? Amp or dac....

If you're happy with your pioneer receiver then I say better dac. If you can hold out Audio-GD will start taking orders for Sabre 11.32 next month.

If you can stretch a little bit look for an older 10SE or similar with an R-Core power unit. They're around $400 used and can drive the HE4 directly on the balanced side.

Audio-GD is tough to beat for the money when it comes to sound IMO.

Either way,I need to be quiet, I keep asking the same question over and over. Ill just watch the f/s section for a while. Ill try whatever I get a good deal on.

You can buy a male and female 4 pin xlr kit on eBay, just the fairly cheap silver ones (no need for gold connections). With both you can reterminate your stock cable to have an xlr and make a balanced to se adapter with the plug you cut off and the female xlr.

Right? Getting pretty crazy low. Too bad the HE-4 is still a better deal.

I dont know what the new hfm line will produce, but this whole " driveable planar from a phone" thing, I'm having my doubts that the 400i will best an amp driven he4. Only time will tell I suppose.
