Just a quick thread to see what people who have had both at the same time think. Which did you prefer? What were the main musical sonic differences? Which did you feel were better for gaming? Just looking for a nice cheaper headphone for multipurpose needs.

Well if you don't like the Ad2k I can't imagine you being able to go back to the Ad900. I've never compared the two, but people who have had both made the Ad900 sound pale in comparison.

It is an excellent all-rounder, though I want something cheaper than it for use as a gaming/music headphone. The AD2000 is rubbish for gaming in comparison to what my old AD900 was.

I had the AD700, AD900, HD558, and HD598 all at the same time. Well, I sold my AD900, and my HD558's are going back.
 
The HD598 is the best all around headphone I've ever used. And in fact, it's my absolute favorite headphone to date, despite all I've tried.

do you mean the 598 as the best ?   and did you do the foam mod for the 558?

Oops, yup, I meant the HD598. I did try the foam mod, but not in direct comparison to the HD598.
