Hello All:
 
So I thought from reading the reviews that I would enjoy the sound of a pair or Grado's.  I purchased a pair of 225i's and find them very much to my liking!  In looking at moding options, I could have then recabled, woodied and put on a leather headband for around 400 dollars.  So my question is, i\would it be better to mod the 225's or just get a set of RS1's for around the same price?

If you're going all that route, I'd say probably the RS1s...
 
Frankly, the 225's are great stock. If you can swing it yourself, do a minor re-cable later, and buy the Beyerdynamic 770 headband ($10 plus shipping) and call it a day (maybe minor stock mods - dynamat, etc.).
 
I'd rather put the extra dosh into amps/source - but that's just my own priorities and preferences.
