Google's new browser, Chrome

There is no customization in Chrome, which is the only reason for me to keep Opera.

I find it on par with Opera in terms of speed, and in Google's benchmarks it performs the second best out of all the browsers that I tested. IE stalled, Firefox wouldn't load the page, and Opera scored 200 some. Chrome scored 1400.

So, take that any way you want.

Seems that Chrome doesn't pass the Acid3 test Acid3 Test

Opera scores 84/100 and Chrome gets 79/100. Interesting to say the least. Note that my Opera is not running stock, so my Opera results may not be as valid as a stock Opera.

I'm pretty sure that's being worked on by the developers at this moment. What we, the internet gurus, want the most more than anything is to be able to customize a software to whatever works and looks best for us. I'm pretty sure Google knows well about this and I have no doubt in my mind that they'll let us customize it in someway, somehow.

They'll probably start out by releasing in-house developed plug-ins as we go alone. And then, once it get's closer to the public release, Google will let loose of it's SDK for web developers to help out on it's development.

That's FireFox 3.1 from a nightly build running SunSpider. A benchmark not developed by Mozilla. Still, should be taken with a grain of salt.

hm. my opera gets 47 on acid, no animation at all. IE7 cant even finish it/run it. Firefox3 hit 71.

As long as some IE users switch, it will be for the better. That one browser has dragged down the web development community for too long. Because of that, I'm glad it's on windows first.

I am fully aware.
The fact that Chrome builds around WebKit, which began its life on Mac OS X, I find it odd that Google don't put out the Mac OS X version at the same time as the MS Windows version...

After all, we already have WebKit installed on our computers.

In the initial planing and design phases, working across 2 to 3 platforms at the same time takes a lot more work so they are doing it one by one focusing on making each version fit well with the OS. This is what I gathered from reading various articles.

Unlike a programs like photoshop, where the UI is basically the same across Mac/Win, Chrome should not be exact to its Windows counterpart. It would look like ass if it was since it wouldn't fit in. I guess you can say it's similar to iTunes or Safari in Windows. It looks a little out of place.. Or is it fine because nothing is consistent to begin with.. I dunno.

Oh blaargh, so we get the unix/linux version last?

I hope there will be adblock and greasemonkey scripts readily available by then. Browsing the net (and Head-fi!) basically needs them!

Yupp! As "usual" they prioritize the MS Windows version...
Then fill the rest of us in later on.

I don't really understand the EULA thingy... Can anyone explain simply?

How do i update, will it have just done it, or will i have to download an update installer like the Chrome installer exe, or is there an update check hidden in the menu's somewhere.
