Google's new browser, Chrome

Even if the ridiculous EULA section won't be cut out (that'd be political suicide for Google, though), the browser built from source (ie. not using the ready built binary) is 'safe' from such funny requirements. There's no need to worry about possible invasion by Google. :-)

I just hope Chrome's getting its linux builds soon! Or just source fits, since my distro prefers to compile things by itself.

Type about:% in the address bar.

I don't want to spoil the surprise of what happens if you do this- but let's just say if you type a long/important message in another tab/ext- save it.

Memory wise it tends to stick to around 30mb jumping to 80mb at most. A huge improvement over firefox and IE (I normally get 130-190). Notice a lot less audio dropouts on my laptop aswell (well actually none so far).

Notice that in task manager there are 3 instances of chrome running. Thought it related to number of tabs you have open but its always 3... ?

Yeh, it's related to how many tabs you have open.

I wanted to test this out and see for myself if it applied to my system.

I opened up 12 tabs- all of different websites and closed and reopened chrome.

Chrome opened up instantly and it took about 5 seconds for every tab to load on my mediocre internet.

Firefox took about 5 seconds for the same number of tabs.

So I don't know if it is your system or what, but it is not the browsers fault.

Wow, what a shock! I haven't downloaded it yet, so I didn't read the License agreement.

As a photographer, I simply refuse these terms.

I haven't read through this whole thread, but can anyone comment on whether Chrome offers anywhere near the same speed and functionality as Opera?

I tried to start using Firefox a while back, but it felt like I was browsing in a vat of honey or something, not to mention its reduced functionality.

It's faster than Opera....MUCH faster actually. I've made it my primary browser.

did you see the update to it?

Also, one thing I thought is clever mentioned in one of those articles: because it is open source if you want you don't even have to agree to any terms. no EULA if you compile the code yourself.
