Unless the upload is just a bad upload.    Pretty much every song I've heard on youtube has very weak bass in comparison to coming straight out of the file.

But in some instances, especially Vevo videos, the sound quality is much higher than 128kbps.
Very similar to FLACs I would say.
 
I have the Digitalism album in flac format on my laptop and the song sounds much clearer on
Youtube than on Foobar. I checked the Flac, it's legit.
