This is definitely not good, just as it is not good that all iPhones only have the AAC codec.the problem with bluetooth codecs is that LDAC and APT-X Adaptive are widley supported,
Then you get people like Huawei or Samsung that go "yes, we have this special lossless codec but you need to get one of our latest flagships and specific models for it to work"
Huawei at least still supports LDAC, Samsung straight goes, either you have a S24, S25 or the latest fold or flip or its AAC for you.
i have nothing to say to that, samsung can jump off a bridge as far as i care.

I travel a lot and ANC is kinda critical to me. I have lots of places and situations that I end up trying different headphones out in, not just TWS. For example, a particularly nasty screech on the London Underground’s Northern and Central lines or in the back section of a Boeing 777 etc… ANC is really difficult to compare since you aren’t just comparing the absolute sound cancellation but how quickly the headphone adapts to a change in sound. I find that some headphones are better cutting sounds out with music on but aren’t as good when music is off or podcasts are playing too. As an engineer, I find all of this ANC engineering from DSP to physical fit fascinating.ANC is beyond sufficient. The best in the industry. This is better than any Apple or Samsung product.
IMHO: The Freebuds Pro 4 are really good at low end cancellation especially with music but they have also deliberately designed to allow announcements though which is sometimes a good choice, but that means that for voices they aren’t as well blocked as on some others. They do adapt pretty well and quickly, something that the APP2 doesn’t do well, but the APP2 are better at cutting voices just by design. Yeah, they are more than sufficient, but I wouldn’t say they are the best in all situations.
I’ve never tried the Samsung… don’t know why because I do use Android, iOS, Windows and Mac most days…
I've been using the Google Pixel Buds A‑Series which I got for free with my Pixel 9 and they are ok for a basic IEM without no ANC. One annoying thing about them is the lack of control customization which means volume has to be controlled from the device. They have stabilizing tabs which work decently well for running, not perfect. I have to readjust them from time to time or they will fall out.
Wanting something flashy and better for running I recently got the controversial Beats Powerbeats Pro 2. First impressions were great, loved the hooks and the case, the duplicated controls. One pretty annoying thing is that when you put them on or readjust them you are likely to press and hold the main button, which will switch the ANC mode. The dealbreaker for me is that after trying the different tip sizes and rotating the hooks they will still allow some small movement when running, which translates into a thumping sound with every step. I don't see any mentions of this so I'm guessing it's unique to my ear shape.
Does anyone here use the Apple AirPods Pro 2 for running? I'm wondering if they are viable with silicone or foam tips, or even with additional tabs or hooks?

The AirPods Pro 2 are definitely viable running IEMs, in my opinion. I did the full Couch to 5K with the original Pro paired to an Apple Watch, and when I switched to the Pro 2 the experience was also excellent. If the stock tips don't work for you for running, try one of the more "grippy" tips like the Xelastec tips.

Got two new ones in today, mtw4 (replacement for mtw3) and earfun air pro 4.
Same time the bluetooth on the motorola edge 30 pro seems to have been corrupted. The buds fail to reconnect, with error about password and code. Tried resetting, clearing bt cache etc. Next a factory reset. No idea what happened, just same time these new ones was connected.
They seem to work fine on tablet s8+. The biggest surprise was earfuns, had no good expectations since I dont trust all the hype and have been trying tws since the start.
But a quick 2 hour test and earfuns for 60$ are to me really good after adjusting the eq.
So for me its now:
1.mtw4
2.xm5
3.earfun
4.linkbuds s

I use this style silicone covers on my airpods 4 ANC. Almost completely stable and keeps them from falling out of my ears working on things. Which they otherwise would.
Since there is no occlusion/seal I get no footstep noise. Granted I haven't run with them, so ymmv there.

I am interested in the Buds 2 Pro.
- Are there tws which sound better?
- is it true that they sound worse since an update (more sibilant / too harsh)?

LDAC is fully supported on Samsung they just don't support APTX above standard. I use LDAC all the time on my S23 Ultra and have used all the way back to my S9 years ago.the problem with bluetooth codecs is that LDAC and APT-X Adaptive are widley supported,

Anyone own an S25 device running UI 7? If so did they include the free change for APTx HD with the new UI?
Thanks. I also read foam tips can be more stable than silicone. The AirPods Pro 2 are definitely viable running IEMs, in my opinion. Awesome. Can you still charge with these on?I use this style silicone covers on my airpods 4 ANC. Almost completely stable and keeps them from falling out of my ears working on things. Which they otherwise would.

Hey, quick question about the Rex5...
I have no issue connecting them to my phone, my kid's phone, but windows will not detect them, no matter what. My Pc motherboard has BT 5.1/wifi 5 and pairs with my P7 instantly.
Anyone managed to connect their Rex to their PC ?

Thanks one less thing I will have to be disappointed about when my phone finally gets UI7. Samsung sucks...I have UI7 on my s24 ultra and no Aptx HD.
But they do give LDAC, only reason I don't flip away to a Chinese brand... that and I usually get my phone through my cell provider and the only decent phones they offer are Samsung and Apple...

Just a question, it may not be the right place, but how are the pixel phones for sound quality?

Phone only matters for codec. The DAC in the earbuds matters for sound quality.Just a question, it may not be the right place, but how are the pixel phones for sound quality?
