I'm currently travelling & will be for most of this year - Have found myself predominantly using my Sennheiser Momentum 4's (mornings when working on my Laptop) & then my Sennheiser IE300 IEM's, wired when exploring. I have the Fiio utws5 2025 adapters, which I can connect the IE300 to, but for whatever reason, have preferred wired most days.

Went to put my left Mackie earbud in my ear and it felt weird so I looked at it.

Looks to me like these use adhesive similar to what holds cell phones together, so not impossible to repair if you cared to do so. I just glued it back together.

What didn't you like about them? What is your preferred tuning?
I'm in the minority here, but didn't love the bass or treble. I like a w tuning, and they felt too flat for me and didn't respond great to get them to the tuning I prefer. They are a good set, but I personally prefer the zx1 as the bass gets deeper and the treble extends further

I have now found that the Spinfit Omni are the right eartips for the Rex5. They are the ones most similar to the originals. They do not make the earphones stick out of the ears like the other eartips and they have a great sound. It is difficult to insert them but after that everything is ok. I had tried them some time ago and I had not succeeded. I had also tried the Dunu but they were not wide enough for me and therefore the sound suffered.
Where have you bought the spinfits omni? I also live in eu, but cannot find a store that can/will deliver.
Many thanks 🙏

Oh you have to be careful with this. I bought them from Amazon and they say they fit 3.7 mm. And the rex5 are larger. On this site, they are listed at 4-5.5mm

I tried really hard to get them on my Rex5 and there was no way they were going on, so I tried them from Bloom Audio

Many thanks but being in eu makes it very expensive to buy from a us site….😞

Some recent wireless pickups:
PX8 for £295 brand new from amazon Germany and think they're excellent at that price!
Also got the Sonos Ace in for the missus. Beautiful minimalist design. So comfortable on the head. Sound pretty decent for the sale price of £304.
I would pick the Sonos if travelling but the px8 if sitting at home, sipping on a whiskey and zoning out to some music ha.

Anyone randomly get weird pops or clicks when first inserting their pi8's into their ears? The other day the tone was so loud my ear hurt. I'll reset but I thought I was in the clear after not having any issues for a month. grrrr...

Yes, I've just posted this in the Pi8 topic:

"Hi everyone,

Have you guys experienced or found a solution to these issues?

  1. ANC/Transparency mode imbalance. When taking the buds out of the case and putting in my ears, I often notice the ANC/Transparency only works on one side, the usual "faint wind noise" only present in one earbud and I can clearly hear the ambient sound is different on the left or right side. Usually when I remove the bud on the buggy side and put it back in the ear, it solves the issue.
  2. Switching between OFF mode and ANC/Transparency, there is a delay between the left and right side. Usually the right bud switches mode first, then shortly followed by the left side. Never at the same time. Also there is a "pop" noise occasionally, when switching between OFF and ANC/Transparency.
  3. Buggy wear detection. Often doesn't register when removing the bud from the left side. But even when the wear detection works fine, once I removed the bud from one ear, the music pauses. But when putting the bud in the case, the music resumes for a sec then pauses again. Same thing when putting away the other bud too, music resumes for a sec when putting in the case, then pauses again. Annoying.
  4. Static noise in the left earbud for a few seconds when removing the buds from the case and putting in the ears.
I've read some of these issues being present with other users' Pi8s too, so not sure if a replacement pair would be a solution."
