In next-big-things news, It looks like xMems is pivoting more towards near field TWS, meaning not just stuff that you jam into your ears. Meanwhile, my hope and dream for ANC that can shut down the train noise when biking over the Manhattan bridge still seems pretty far off.

That's a big ask... I could only imagine all the squeaks, squeals, rumbles, metal scraping metal and engine knocking a train produces as it passes 15 feet from your bike!!!

Yeah, I know. High frequency cancellation would probably have to have incredibly accuracy in both sampling and drivers. Did seem like a job for xMems to me. I'm sure someone will figure it out eventually. But maybe that's going to take as long as it will for New York to get quiet trains. @erockg, any more monkeys up there? 😆

This week? Nothing. I’m also seemingly content with all my true wireless right now. I feel uncomfortable and odd by this.

Enjoying the JBL Live Buds 3 alot more with the Sony hybrid tips.

The bass is quite nice, reminds me of the stereo systems I grew up listening to.

If I was to sum up their sound, it is some where between the Samsung and the Sony, they are warmer than Samsung and have a bit more polite treble, but not as polite as Sony and have better sub bass than Sony.

I'm sure the Noble team will find new ways to take our money in 2025. Do you think your love of the prestige ties to being a bit of a basshead?
I mean, for all the metal and stoner rock I listen to, the Prestige do it for me. Just tried the Fiio BT11 LDAC with the Rex5 and it surprisingly worked fine. Sounded great. Worth the hassle? Great question I can't answer yet.

You should try Ozlo maybe?
https://ozlosleep.eu/products/sleepbuds
« Sleepbuds' biometric sensors seamlessly detect when you fall asleep, auto-magically switching from your streaming audio to built-in noise-masking sounds. »
Bit pricey, if I try a pair it will likely be the Soundcore model. But ya, this kind of design is I should have bought...

I've tried them all, except those Ozlo, which are always in my list. They look like the same form factor as the old Bose. I truly wanted this style to work for me. Started to have horrible ear pain. Some folks ears drain and night due to allergies, like mine, and whew, not good using these. Buyer beware! That said, they did work and blocked out noises in the night, except when my wife turns on the lights at 5am and starts opening doors, slamming cabinets. Yes, all the memes are true. Happens.

I needed a new pair of TWS for listening to Zoom/Team calls at work so decided to try out the Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro since they were 99 Euros.

I’m most impressed. The ANC on 4 plane trips was almost at AirPod Pro 2 level, meaning it was good enough. The sound after hours of fiddling is good (not Rex5… but for 99 Euros it is great). The buds charge really quickly initially so in the short time between calls, they recharge for another few hours, and the display on the case shows you exactly where you are. The microphones are pretty good too at suppressing background noise and having your voice sound natural, I’d say just behind the Huawei Freebuds Pro 3. They fit my ears too, though not as comfortably as say my Jabra Elite 10s, but well enough for a few hours listening. The app is reliable and nice too and the controls mostly work well.

Downsides are two big ones: The case is about the same size as the Bose QC2/Ultra so is too big and the battery life when using the microphone is 4 hours, which is about average today, but remains too short for me.

Using the Sony tips I slept most of the night without as many comfort issues. Ended up popping them out but more because they were still playing music and I wanted silence. Usually I play sleep music that stops and then they just as silencers the rest of the time.

I didn't knock them out which is nice.
