Really want to like the Nothing Ear 2024 TWS, but I just can't seem to get them right for my liking. Think I'm going to send them back (Amazon).

Nothing Ear 2024 is sitting at $129. What can we really expect at that price.. I can see Pi8’s at $399, needing to hit a grand slam.. I mean yeah, if ya don’t like, sure, but that’s throw it in your car as a backup price. It (nothing ears) has received good reviews here. I like to find top ($250-$399) units at clearance prices and get’em, unfortunately I’m often a generation or 2 behind. 😀

What didn't you like? Would be nice to hear a reason?!

A statement like that is really not either helpful or interesting in these kinds of forums?
I'll start by saying, I'm not good at describing "sound" in technical terms like a lot of you guys, so hope I can portray it across well enough. Whether I'm using the stock tips (Large fit nicely), or the Sedna Crystals, I simply can not seem to get the sound to my liking, regardless if I use a range of Advanced EQ settings (both settings I've scanned off other people online, or tinkered with myself). It will either be sounding nice & clean punch, but the treble is far too harsh, or the mids are out of whack, alter one & it messes something else.

I've tried playing with the personalised sound, then tinkering with the Bass, Mids, Treble in the Simple settings, I get it close, but then a song will come along & it sounds off - whether it's muddy, lacks separation, too much treble. I've also tried just leaving it on Balanced in the simple EQ setting, which actually comes close to what I want, but still not there.

The fit is good, ANC decent & volume pretty good, so can't complain in those areas.

Something which annoyed me this morning, listening to an particular album through Plexamp (John Digweed Live in Fabric London), it sounded atrocious!. Muddy, low on volume.. don't know how else to explain it.

Yesterday I purchase replacement batteries & tools, to replace the batteries in my WF-1000XM4's. Hopefully I manage to do that without issue, probably keep rocking them, as they've served me well for a few years & I can get the EQ just right.

Should add, and sorry for the long post, I LOVE the Sennheiser sound. So, getting other in ears & headphones as close to that sound as possible, is what I'm after.

God I hate the Sony Linkbuds S's mic mode. It has so much ambient noise, it's intolerable! Made a mistake getting it. Tired of TWS. Just tired. . . . Too much wireless signal inside my brain makes me tired...

We need to get back to wired. No more charging crap.

I giggled, as I was thinking this exact thing this morning.. "We need to get back to wired". My Sennheiser IE300, I don't need to worry about EQ, or ANC, they just work the way I like. Unfortunately though, when it comes to activities like running, they just aren't practical for me (mainly because of the cable).

Okay, my Amiron 300 arrived. Nice tip selection. The case is similarly sized to the B&O EX, with the EX being taller. I found it very comfortable in my ear using the largest tips. However, I'm not sure how stable they would sit in my ear during exercise unless I push them in for a deep insertion. I haven't taken any calls or spent much quality music listening time. I have the volume maxed out with EQ on bass preset. With the EQ off they are more balanced with good bass presence and loud enough. I am having no issues yet.

Edit: I will say I am glad I like the sound with EQ off, because then volume is low when EQ is on

I recently got the JBL tour Pro 3. it happens to be a very nice all-rounder. Sound quality way up there, call quality great. Today I found out it has active wind attenuation at least as good as my Jabra Elite 10 or Aviot ZX1. The transmitter on the plane was very clear, better than a cheapie transmitter paired with the Aviot. On the downside the case is large and it's way overpriced.

Thank you so much for the lengthy reply, I appreciate it a lot. The Buds 1 Pro i'm currently using also had the "Harman" sound style from the reviews i'm reading from 2021. And currently i'm really happy with the tuning and have no problems. But sadly I don't actually know what a Harman tuning is, and is it the norm. So in your opinion, how would you describe the Harman tuning compared to Sennheiser and Sony's tuning? What kind of sound is waiting for me between these three models? Sadly I can't do try&refund on earbuds in my country.
The Harmon curve is from Harmon Kardon is a bit mid/treble centric with less bass emphasis. The Samsung buds have slowly added a bit extra bass over the 3 revisions but always have a midrange/treble centric signature.

Sennheiser, does something a bit similar but is more V shaped so has a bit less vocal emphasis. But due to the shape of the signature is vibrant and detailed. Due to the slight recess of the mids its a bit on the warm side compared to Samsung.

The Sony started getting really dark sounding but has righted that ship a bit with the XM5 as it's not as dark as the older models. It has the smoothest sound due to less treble emphasis. It's great for some genres but loses a lot of the energy compared to the other 2. But I like it enough I still use it pretty consistently.

Remember, all 3 can be adjusted by the app EQ. So you don't have to live with the default sound. But I personally find the more I have to use EQ heavily the more artificial they start to sound. So I recommend the one that sound like it would meet your needs the closest so your not pressing the EQ to its limits.

^^ I read Sony did that on the XM5 which I have never owned but I did have the XM4's.
Bose also sorted out that over bassy sound on the new QC Gen 2 (2024) but I read they firstly did so on the QC Ultra which I did not own so cannot say but I did not like the sound on the QC II's
