The following was mildly amusing, this morning:

So now we need a battle between the 3 pretenders for "Best DAC with a Headphone Out" :  NAGRA HD DAC, TotalDAC D1-Dual (or Mono) &  DAVE.  Who will win ?

That depends on how one defines best - if best is defined as transparency and musicality then Dave will win easily. I am prepared to bet a brand new Dave against a bottle of Bollinger that Dave will win.

In fact that's way too easy a proposition. I will bet a brand new Mojo against a bottle of beer that Mojo will be more musical and transparent than those DAC's.

If anybody wants to challenge me on this, then PM me, but you will need to bring one of those DAC's (or any other reference class DAC's) to Carmarthen, Wales. Plus a bottle of beer and a bottle of Bollinger.

How about 4 cans of Guinness Rob?

My preference would be a bottle of Crwr Blasus, micro brewed locally in a village pub...

I thought this follow up was bloody amusing :-

"My DAC is the best in the world!"

"Oh really, I don't think so."

"Watch out Vincent, because Rob's DAC is this big!"

 "That's right, I have a Hugo DAC."

"That Hugo DAC of yours looks pretty Mojo compared to my DAC.  They don't call it the "Twelve" for nothing."

"Well, my DAC is 2Qute."

"My wife is not impressed at all."

It'll be interesting to see if any UK audiophile (Head-fier or otherwise) actually pursues Rob's challenge!

Well, I can see the 'Chord', but not the Mojo!

Perhaps the Mojo's are all wrapped up in suspenders and they can only be revealed at their destination.

YAY. Rudolph the audiophile reindeer.... just pure win,   right there.

The red nose, of course, adds "musicality" and is sure to spawn a whole new breed of kickstarted accessories.

Yeah,   a nose that glows in a different colour for the most dominant frequency reproduced by the headphones.....

Although this doesn't count as 'funny', per se, it is my hope that it'll nonetheless put a smile on your face, so I hope none of you will object to me bending the thread rules a little and posting it here - virtually all of us head-fiers are blessed with the gift of hearing, and it's easy to forget how fortunate we are, and the fact that many people with hearing difficulties cannot enjoy music as we do. The following is quite a moving moment, at CES, wherein someone with hearing damage hears music properly, for the first time in many years:

The KSE1500 is certainly special - it certainly looks and costs like the mother of high-end IEMs. Whether it sounds the part, though, is another matter altogether. I'm definitely (very) interested in trying them out soon. Hopefully, I get my Zeus before I head off to Japan at the end of February. Will be spending a lot of time in E-earphone and Yodobashi Camera (again!), testing/comparing the myriad earphones available. I'll be sure to do a comparison between the Zeus and the KSE1500 then, if possible.

I hope one day to be able to make the pilgrimage myself. E-earphone & Fujiya Avic & al. With a case full o cash to abuse the tourist discount >:-]]

They'll have to drag me out after closing hour haha

@ Jack - are there any plans to introduce an alternative (more neutral) tuning of the Zeus XIV?

don't mean to displace the Zeus; I mean under a different model name, but fundamentally at the same top-of-the-range performance level, sitting alongside the Zeus in the EE product range.

So, the same extreme detail & layering, but more neutral/reference presentation...

I suspect it'd sell very well.

I'd out-camp any star wars fan in line to get it 1st.

What's the current thinking on sysconcepts/mojo/AK100 stacking?

Do you go balls up with a diagonal cable, or do you hide your balls with a short vertical cable, with the mojo under the AK?
I've gone for the second but I'm curious about reasons for the alternate stack?

I think either up or down is OK, just as long as one doesn't get noticed scratching one's balls, in public

Seriously, though... I was just thinking this thread is seeing far too little 2016 activity. I can't possibly read all the threads on Head-fi, but there surely must be some humorous activity in some of them!
