Fwir they actually designed and tuned their headphones to sound right out of a 120 ohm source, so the frequency response is actually compensated.
Diy amp? That would be great to list some good ones with low source impedance too! But i'm guessing all of them are like that...

Hmmmmm,
I think this partly explains why a lot of folks prefer their 600 ohm Beyer DTxxx series driven by vacuum tube OTL amps.
Output impedance of these amps can range from approx. 50-100 ohms.

there are 100's and 100's of low impedance amps. Most OTC tube amps, no OTL tube amps, OTC hybrid amps and quite a few SS amps...

Sorry, should have said near zero impedance headamps.

Hi,

Audio-GD amps are within a 2Ohm impedance. That's really low as well.

I'm aware low output impedance is common among solid-state amps, but what about tube or hybrid amps? Can anyone point out a decent tube or hybrid amp that has a low output impedance (by low I mean lower than 3, at most) besides the Liquid Fire or Super 7, hopefully somewhere in the $1~2K mark?

That sold me... Right now I am looking at the nfb 5...

Does the Super 7 has low impedance? Wow!

Many hybrids do. Including most of Millet's designs, and the Bijou (and EHHA). Also, the Zana Deux.  And of course, the WooAudio 6 (and 6SE) and the Bottlehead SEX and Bottlehead Smack, since those are transformer coupled - the MAD Ear + HD does as well...

Beta 22 is < 0.01 ohms, it gets hard to measure that low perhaps.

Joey I noticed you have a DV336 on your avatar, do you know its output impedance?

If you don't mind :D

Just thinking about it my multimeter is pretty inaccurate at such low VAC (the range is 250) so might not be able to help. I do need a new one anyway as the ammeter functionality is broken (whoops). Don't hold your breath though :)

The Antelope Zodiac Gold has two output settings, 120 and "0"Ω (really it's something like .0004Ω). It is a little pricey, though.
