Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

I love my PM3 cans and the TH-X000 will a nice addition to the collection, too. Let's face it, the mahogany clad beauties are nowhere near as portable as the PM3s. It will be very interesting to do a back to back listen, hopefully we'll before Xmas

I have the following full size cans, would it make sense to buy the TH-XOO?

K7XX
Shure 1440
ATH A900X
Sennheiser HD-25-1-II

What I listen to is: Rock, Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, top40, EDM

I don't really understand what the importance of getting a low serial number is...people really care that much? Do they sound better or something?

Low serials have a 1/100,000 chance of containing a treasure map. The treasure map will lead you to a distant part of the amazon rainforest , wherein you shall find the fountain of youth. Keep this on the DL tho, can't have people getting stabbed over these like Jordans, not to mention the heat I'd get from the medical community if this got out.

Jokes aside, it's an intrinsic value thing. Why is gold so expensive? There's not that much of it relatively speaking and everyone agreed it's special (long before it was ever used for a widespread functional purpose). Some people care about it, some people don't, but I feel pretty smug with #1 on my head at the office.

Fun fact, the #1 on my head is actually one of two #1's in the world. This #1 was one of our production prototypes, someone in the drop will get the real #1.

Curious, for those that are <250, will the actual received HP serial # be random (1-250) or by order time?

Just picked them up! Th-900's have always been a big favorite of mine as well as the Denon D-X000 Series headphones. Finally happy to be a proud owner of this family of headphones after having worked on them for so long!!!

That's where the Beyerdynamic T51i comes in and delivers the 1-2 knockout punch

Random

Cool, I still have a chance to score one that's < 10.
Last time I drank from the fountain of youth from the Amazon rain forest I went like a baby for 2 days.

Well, then my -3714 order # isn't going to guarantee me two digits. :)

Happy to get one at any serial # but if I these become a big deal and I ever decide to sell them I might be able to get a bit more with the low #, so I figured why not get in right away?

Yea I mean, if you're going to buy them anyway, why not get in early? Makes sense.

It'd be cool to see low serials going for more on the secondary market (as we've seen with K7XXs on ebay). Probably a better investment than beanie babies, probably a worse investment than actually investing.
