773722, Was refreshing the page like crazy
I don't really understand what the importance of getting a low serial number is...people really care that much? Do they sound better or something?
Hmm... that's not a good news for me... So TH-X00 is not so "awesome" for home users who have a decent amp and don't care about sound leakage?
Hype train is real on this product, I almost fell into it myself and I already own a TH-900. My better judgement won out and I didn't buy them. If needed I could adjust the sound of my TH900 with a lawton mod or a shelf liner install if needed and save myself $400. My want for MOAR toys almost got the best of me. Gonna save for the next Fidelio X2 or HD650 sale.

This is all subjective...
They are saying its close in performance to the th600 and th900, some even say its better than the th900. Those that are making it comparable to the hd650 have amazing amps to drive it that far. If you have one of those amps then chances are that you aren't even using the hd650 as a main, and just want this to have fun with.
I really doubt the hd650 will better the thx00 on a mid fi set up (what most of us have)
I place the hd650 on speedball and crack above all of the mid-fi gear I have had so far but without that it wasn't the case.
My preferences might not reflect yours.
I have the JVC HA-DX2000 for bassy songs, classical and jazz. The HD650 for everything but bassy songs. The Nighthawk for jazz.
The TH-X00 doesn't fill a slot I don't have filled. It still has slightly more treble than I prefer when using Audeze or HM5 pads (the HD650 being about the most treble I enjoy).
They actually are quite awesome if you want an exciting headphone without as much treble as the TH600/900/Denons.
I already have that slot filled by a much more expensive headphone that has better isolation (JVC HP-DX1000/HA-DX2000) and larger earpads for my tall ears.
These are an awesome deal. I really enjoy the other Fostex headphones but they're too bright. The TH-X00 only induces fatigue in my very treble-sensitive ears with aftermarket pads.
Smart move. I've been wanting to try the fostex sound for some time, so this seemed like the ideal opportunity. I am also hoping for a hd650 or hd800 sale, fingers crossed.

Yep. I put in my order at 9:01 am in the morning. Started thinking a lot about it and then cancelled it. I already own the TH-900 and don't need it. The earpads are what really made the decision for me. I have a little bigger than average ears and those earpads looked really small. Changing the earpads will definitely change the sound so it was a no go for me.
Just curious but why do you want a Fidelio X2 or a HD650? I currently have the X2's still and had the HD650 for a long time. The X2's imo a better package than the HD650. Using the TH-900 is more satisfying than either of those. They both are really good headphones however.
Loved my HD800's and my 650's when I had them, I actually traded the 800's a few weeks ago for these TH900's. I love the TH900s as well but they do cause some fatigue when wearing them. I was planning on selling them but now this hype train is going nuts and there is little to no chance of that happening anytime soon so I'll probably just hang on to them and mod them slightly. Really want the hd800s when they come out as well, I look at this non purchase as $400 towards the HD800s.
