Happy to be receiving the E-MU Ebony earcups, as my friend got a pair for me at Canlanta. I'll write brief thoughts between the Ebony and stock cups in the near future, especially if I can compare directly with my friend's stock TH-X00.

Beautiful cups. I wonder, how much of a difference they make in sound signature.

How does this compares to the HD600? Planning to get my first headphones and I'm deciding between this pair vs HD600

I own both. HD600s come through with absolute clarity when hearing vocals and live instruments. THX00 loses only the slightest bit of upper end clarity to the HD600 but retains a more well rounded overall sound. If you listen to modern music and you like hearing quality bass as it should sound then the THX00 slaps the HD600 around and then some. But with music ehere there isnt subterranean bass then HD600 is more than capable. I own both and will keep both for their purposes. My HD600 is for my classic CD playback and THx00 is superb on my desktop PC setup for my pop/hiphop/dance music but gives up nothing for other genres like live performances and quality recordings. I say THx00 is a better headphone if you listen to a lot of electronic sounding music just as much as your instrumental music. Also it has more bass weight and mids have as much impact and clarity as the HD600. The sacrifice is losing the open sound of the HD600s (yet still sounding open) also panning sounds of the HD600 have more width and location accuracy (THX00 come close still for being closed). Own both if you want to cover all areas as there is no one single headphone to rule them all.

Yea usually in the product pictures, it will be taken with studio lights. What we are looking normally will be a brown color THX00

Thanks! They actually are TH-600 cups, just dampened and painted white by PETEREK. Opted to switch when I decided to go 2.5mm on my connectors, which require minor drilling on the cups (a no no for those beautiful mahoganies). The paint job was just to make it unique and not look completely like the 600.

I probably would be doing the same if my modded X00 didn't require minor drilling for the cups to fit.
