TH900 MK2 has caused me to stop looking for other headphones. even the releases of new headphones don't phase me anymore, TH900 is just too good.

slickdeals.net usually has them for sale periodically, through Adorama (last one i saw was a few months ago for $950), so definitely keep an eye out if you can wait and want to get a new pair for much less.

For me they feel very light and are very comfortable. My issue is I like it so much I am trying to use one of them outdoors on my commute. Yes they are closed hp but they are not fully closed. This makes them sound very airy with a wide sound stage but it doesnt help me when Im outside. My 3 hr commute I get 2 hrs of very good listening but 1 hr of noises entering my hp. One pair has stock pads the other has Mark Lawton angle pads. Stock seems to help cause it seems more bass. Im testing to see which works best outdoors.

stock has more bass ?

when Im outdoors it seems that way.maybe the thick upgrade pads are putting my ears further away from the speakers.

My understanding is that deeper/thicker pads, moving the speakers farther from the ear, decreases the impression of bass. I use stock pads.
Indoors stock pads and the Lawton angle thicker pads have equal bass. The change happens when I take it outside where outside noises starts to enter. Once it gets noisy the bass is quickly list with the thicker pads.

Lawton angle material is harder than stock pad. Hence I put stock pads back on and bass intensity is back.

What would you guys say is the major difference between the TH900 and the TH610. What really makes the TH900 better and three times the price than the TH610. Thanks
Bass, soundstage, seperation.

And more importantly (to me), transparency.

I have an MKII. I also have a Mjolnir. Am I going to get $300 worth of sound by upgrading to the xlr cable?
In this hobby one never ask worth. Just buy and take in the music.
