At that price and even twice that price the hpa8 is a fine amp that drives th900 beautifully. I'm not sure the knock is worth it and really you don't need a 7 grand amp to run the things. The hpa8 192 32 bit 4x sampling is sweet to my ears and have no interest in chasing any dragon.

HP-A8's DAC section is fine. It's no Reimyo, but I prefer it's signature compared to other DACs with built-in headphone out in that price-range (Mytek, Lavry, Benchmark). Amp section I was less impressed with. Wished Fostex released a DAC only at a lower price.

Did you end up listening to that Bakoon or am I imagining things again?

You're not imaging things. The Bakoon rep & I were exchanging e-mails early Feb on sending me some stuff for me to listen to but he never got back to me after I gave him my address :p!? Well I think he's a legit Bakoon rep. I'll drop him a reminder mail.

Listened to my 900s thru the Woo Audio Wa2 amp this weekend and it was the worst I had ever heard the 900s sound. I would highly recommend staying away from that amp if you plan to pair it with the 900s

Not suprising, as the WA2 is OTL tube amp, primarily designed for high-impedance can like HD800 or T1.
