The Fostex TH900 is very nice. Last night was my first real night with it, and it's making wonderful first impressions.

I thought strong magnetic field generating headphones needed to rely on higher impedance, mainly because when you think of a T1 and that it is a 600 ohm rated headphone. That's just wrong?

They don't have anything to do with each other.  A stronger magnet just puts more force on the voice coil.

The D7000 may not be on the same "level" as the HD800, but often times I find myself wanting to listen to the D7000 and not the HD800, and on those occasions the D7000 is on a higher "level" for me personally. I suspect the TH900 will be much the same: a horizontal not vertical performer.

But anyway.

It's nice to see the TH900 is starting to appear on store shelves. Hopefully the Fostex distributors will start giving them to importers and deputy services. I know they're stocked on some online stores like FUJIYA AVIC, but those stores don't ship overseas.

I do hope Jude can spare a bit of time to post impressions in this thread.

The Tesla T5p is 32 ohms, hopefully I'll make a direct comparison at some point.

"The "FOSTEX" logo is applied using platinum leaf."

Simply gorgeous. I had no idea Fostex included a headphone stand. It may have an issue with the wires leaving indentations in the headband, but that can be solved with a simple mod to the stand I'm sure.

These are definitely stunning looking headphones -- I am very much looking forward to listening impressions.

You jumped ship from AudioCubes then?

Wow, that's the stand they are including?  That's horribly cheap and fragile not to mention will make nice little indents on you headband.  One would be better off dropping $15-$20 on a Banana holder from Amazon.  Platinum leaf and Japanese Lacquer accompanied by some non descript thin wire contraption from the clearance bin at Home Depot or a 99 cent store.  Not a way to finish strong.  Fostex should order a set of 009s to learn from the experience.

Yeah pretty much.

By including a cheap wood box, some foam, and no stand?

Edit: Don't get me wrong, the SR-009 has impeccable build quality. But the packaging and presentation is hardly anything special IMO. I prefer the SR-007's for what that's worth.
