I'm considering buying a pair of TH600, anyone compared them with the Denon D600 ?
I love the D600 signature, perfect amount of bass for me, very fun and musical
TH600 is way above D600 for sure. From every aspect, resolution, clarity, everything. Even the bass on D600 seems less focused than the TH600 after comparing them.
Yep sure, i'm counting on it, but what about the general feeling, does the TH600 sound much more bright than the D600 ? Or the bass amount / presence is more or less the same ?
Probably on the TH600's treble is kinda peaky on the first listening, but after hours of burn-in, eventually they'll calm down a bit. The bass is less boomy than D600s, but the texture is much better and the bass goes deeper than D600s.

The TH600 and D600 has the "600" in common but that is about it. D600 is about $300 and TH600 was about $1299 (before the price drop) so the TH600 is about 4 times better. Nah... It is more than that - haha. The D600 fanboys will kill me for that statement but a good sharp stick to the side is always fun
You said it already: 3 to 4 times more the price. Not being a hater but I think we should try to compare the d600 between the 300$ segment instead of one of the top of line headphones, kind of unfair.
Probably the Denon-Fostex contract ended and unfortunately people wanted beats look-a-like headphones. I'm hoping for a cheaper TH version...
Ok fair enough. Keeping it around the $300 dollar range - I like the Mad Dogs better. The D600 might have more bass but not very controlled and wooly. The Mad Dogs are on the warmer side of neutral but has a good amount of treble when called for it. I have not received my 3.2 version back yet but from what I have read the bass is even better on them so hands down I believe it is better than the D600 in the same price range.
The other headphones in that range I listened to was the Audio Technica ATH900X which I thought had a better sound than the D600 in terms of better bass punch and treble.
@ApaucalyptiK - the TH600 is not warm. I would say it is more neutral. It has very good bass and can get down to the sub-bass with a good amount of punch. There is a good amount of treble but not fatiguing though. What really sets them apart more than anything is the clarity from the TH600. It's almost like listening to an MP3 64kbps vs. CD. The soundstage is better, imaging, and just about every aspect. These two really can not be compared. It's like comparing a nice sports sedan to a Porsche 911 turbo.
I think there are enough $300 headphones out there with better sound than the D600.
Hum so i'm not sure it's for me, i'm not a total basshead, but i do like warm / fun signatures.
I also have a Philips Fidelio X1 and in term of warmth it's spot on, not too dark not too bright.
The point here is to get a nice big upgrade after the D600, to find another closed headphones with a similar warmth / fun side, but significantly better in every aspect and technicalities.
I'm looking to the JVC DX1000 too, but i don't know it might be too much... And it has a lot of plastic, a shame at this kind of price.

X1 is waaayy darker than TH600. But if you compared the D600 and TH600, they have almost the same warmth. Aside from that warmth, the TH-600s is way better in term of resolution and technicalities, better bass texture, so on and so on .

You could try the new mad dogs. I was very surprised at how well they sounded, I would deem them a substantial upgrade to those denons and they actually cost less.
Or you could look for some d5k's. I would buy d5k's over dx1000's.
