Whoa! I've received a lot of emails asking about the cost of my modded headphones. To be more clear and to avoid any further confusion, I'm not competing with Members of the Trade and I'm not selling modded headphones. Instead, I share everything that works and sounds good to me for others to try or ignore. I always encourage people to DIY, try a mod, and tune it "to make it  your own."

Best to All

Good point.  Plus, you probably remember my motto: "When you take what is a hobby, then try to turn it into a business to make money off of it - then it is no longer a hobby."

Enjoy!

I'm a proud owner of BMF DBV#3, exactly the same cans used for measurements in this thread) Thank you very much, BMF.

While I cannot compare them with some higher end orthos like LCD-2 or HE-500, I can say that they are the best headphones I've ever heard. They have lush, creamy mids, very detailed and textured bass and their treble extension would make my Audio Technika CK10 shy. What really stands out for me is their mids clarity. Soundstage is also quite big for a closed headphones.

Would really wish to see how well LCD-2 or Paradox T50RP mod fares against them, but thats nearly impossible in my parts)

Today I took my stuff (by BMF) from magisterarus...

First: thank you veeeeery much !!!!!

I briefly listened modded fostex vs my unmodded cans: modded are in another league !!!!!!

Sounds very very better.

I'd like to say thank you to magisterarus. He listened my Musical Fidelity Aurion A1 (and that seems very good with orthodinamics !!!!!).

Then I listened their beautiful setup....

Roby, Italy.

@BMF: Anyone (for example innerfidelity, headphone.com, etc...) measured your modded cans on a standard measurements system??

I sent a set of headphones to Tyll in April 2012. They were not DBV's. They sounded pretty good but not as good as DBV #3 which I did not develop until July 2012.

bmf, you should try sending another pair to tyll or purrin for more measurements hehe =)

Nahhh, I'm just a little diy guy. I'm not selling anything. Incremental mods and measurements are done. The kit I used is toast. It's all about the fun and the sound.

No, Tyll measured an older mod configuration in April 2012, Not DBV #3.

Most of the tuning tweaks I've posted are listed in Post 191, above. The rest is up to you.

@BMF: sorry...my english is terrible....

I'm just asking if Tyll published the measures of the April 2012 older mod configuration.

If yes: where ????

Tyll published some measures on T50RP on 2011. Those are from others modders and/or different mods (not BMF)  ????

It could be this set, that was measured by Tyll.  http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/FostexT50RPDIYModifiedBlueMonkeyGlider.pdf

The BMF and Blue Monkey Glider are one in the same.

Or, sort of like Adam West and Batman.

Acoustipak lite... Except, it's not ridiculously expensive.

*edit* It might actually be different.. I can't exactly tell by just looking at it. This deserves more research

All kinds of interesting things on here. Take a look guys. I'm buying some of their isolation pads to put under my rather large desktop speakers - http://soundproofing.org/

Great find, Chris! I will order some, too.
Edit: I won't be ordering, after all. The shipping for 4.5x1 foot ranges from $39 to $75.

All: Rite Aid Natural Absorbent Cotton has been discontinued according to Rite Aid reps. Their online store web page shows only Rite Aid First Aid Rolled Cotton is available. This product is dense and matted out of the box and won't work without a bit of preparation. You can separate the cotton into 20 thin layers by delicately pulling them apart, one by one. This makes it more "fluffy" and performs similarly compared to Rite Aid Natural Absorbent Cotton.

@ Chris: Did you try this with the U.S. Cotton you ordered or was it "good" straight out of the box?

Yup! I had to pull the layers apart like you did. Although, I didn't get 20 layers, more like 5-6 at the most. So, I used two layers of my 5-6 layer stacks to make up the 20mm height you recommended. All that denser cotton in there might be the reason I have too present highs and not enough bass. Whatcha think?
