For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Qobuz > Chord Mojo2 > 64 Audio U12t (mX Module) w/Forza Copper Series IEM MK2 Cable 🤙

For someone ready to dip their toe into the mid-fi market I can't think of a better place to point them than the Mojo2 & 64 Audio U12t. The synergy is incredible. The Mojo2's lossless DSP paired with 64 Audio's Apex modules provides so many sonic options. I'm always blown away with just how good the U12t's are. If I had to downsize to just this setup and nothing else, I would still feel like I have an incredible audiophile experience.

Considering summit tier IEM’s have moved to the 4-6k price point I’d say mid-fi is appropriate for an IEM that can be had for $1599-$1799 pretty regularly.

I think that "$1599-$1799" is a lot of money for a "mid-fi" iem, so I guess my comment stands.

wow!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion 👍

The market however disagrees with you objectively.

Summit-fi IEM’ are now $3-6k. Odin, Viking Ragnar, Phonix, Jewel, Traillii, Forte, etc.

U12t is half the price hence mid-way aka mid-fi to these Summit tiers.

This is also why we should not call it low,mid and high tier. Its very subjective what is what, I remember when 1k headphone were called Summit Fi.
Personally everything above 600usd for a IEM I call high end.

Also not to muddy this thread to much up

Sony MDR Z7M2 and XD05 Plus

What?!?! People in this hobby disagree on where mid-fi ends and hifi begins? I'm shocked...😜

Edit: For topicality, currently listening on my SoftEars Twilights plugged into my A&K Kann Alpha.

Listening to one of my favorite live albums. Billy Cobham is a beast!

I disagree and I think that mid-fi absolutely ends around $1000 (but not always) with stuff like LCD2C, Meze 109 Pro, and similar stuff which I'd call "entry Hi-Fi level" and then the high hi-fi level would be HD800S and similar and then summit fi is something like Focal Utopias etc. I'm not really an IEM guy so I'm giving headphone examples but I just wanted to have an opinion.

Call me old school, but the K340 are an amazing High Fidelity headphone, even for today's standards. I myself wouldn't put a price tag on the term Hi-fi. It's very subjective to one's preferences.
I'll settle for being at 90 to 95% of the way there at 1/10 of the price any day. System synergy is key.

JRiver Media Center > SMSL SU9 > SMSL SH9 > Denon AH-D7200

theverybestof10cc.jpg

The Very Best Of 10cc by 10cc - They were one of the very best the UK had to offer in the rock/pop genre back in the 70's and this album has most of their best known songs. I was a big fan back in the day and was heartbroken when Godley and Creme left to do their own thing. This is a real stroll down memory lane, it's weird because I have all of their studio albums but am used to listening to them as albums, so having all of these hits one after the other is really different. Too many classics to pick out any favourites, though I do have a soft spot for I'm Mandy, Fly Me.
Listening with my Denons through my SMSL stack, so plenty of detail yet nice and smooth - just right for late on a Saturday night.

Qobuz > Gustard R26 (NOS) > Ferrum OOR & Hypsos (22.0V) > DCA Expanse w/Forza Claire HPC MK2 UPOCC Copper Cable 🤙

I'm a sucker for some upright bass and jazz trumpet. The synergy between the Ferrum Stack, R26 & Expanse is out of this world.
