For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Working from home, listening to my DT880 Ubers from Custom Cans < Vali 2 < Modi Multibit.

I'm really enjoying them so far. Very comfortable and pleasant sounding. I remember a previous pair of DT880s being harsh but that was years ago and hardly a useful comparison. My ears are probably deader inside now.

Too early for impressions but comfy and airy so far.

Beethoven 7th symphony is not As famous as many others but it is equally amazing. Among my favorites
Here in an amazing version by the Berliner Philarmoniker and Kirill Petrenko. The quality of this recording gives me goosebumps.

Apple Music High Res 24-96-Astell & Kern SR25- Topping L30II - Denon AH-D7200

Haven't listened to this in years and years (decades?). Wonderful recording. Reminds me of welcoming a long lost friend to my home to spend some quality time with me in my listening room.

Thanks for the tip!

Ok it's not my fault. I tried to give you two Likes but it just didn't help.

One Like for the Czech bass player and one for the handsome headpad on your Focals. Nice!

Working from home today, and listening to one of my favorite prog rock albums going back to 1973

I have old itunes download in my library, but it sound better streaming from Qobuz,

This album is one that needs max volume for full enjoyment.

listening via:

BQEYZ Topaz IEM < SMSL HO100 < SMSL D6 DAC < roon < Qobuz

and the more I listen to the Topaz the more I like them. Build quality is fantastic, and the 4.44mm termination option is great, stock cable seems fine.

Thanks for mentioning Nektar, listening to their most recent album "The Other Side" (2020) right now, it sounds excellent!

Tidal Hifi -> Tascam Model 12 -> Balanced -> Presonus HP4 -> AKG K612 (2k lowered using parametric EQ)

Btw, I see you have the SMSL D6, I ordered one on a whim as I've never used a dedicated DAC and it looks to have a solid set of features for the price. What is your personal thoughts about it? I see Youtubers are quick to point out "it's shouty", while measurement from ASR shows it's close to flawless and should be transparent. My own take is Youtubers must justify more expensive DACs to please those brands providing them review samples.

I'm out in the shop making some modifications to some new bass drum pedals that were sent to me to see if I can get them where I need them to be which, of course, means I'm listening to music. I've got my DIY 300ohm LCP earbuds plugged into my A&K Kann Alpha which is serving up all the hi-res hits this morning.

Inspired by @xeizo and @fidshimmer , I'm taking a brief detour from my discographical exploration of Eloy to enjoy an album from another German prog great, Nektar. I chose what is probably their most polarizing album, 1974's Down to Earth, because I wanted something a bit uplifting and this album has an undeniably fun energy to it. The whole three ring circus theme, the bouncing from genre to genre all over the musical map, and, once again, the German accents make this an entertaining listen, IMO.

Miroslav Vitous’ bass technique is prodigious; his playing sears with intensity. If you (or anyone else) can listen to this, do so!:

Atlantic SD 1622 (released 1972). This is one to which I return often.

I changed over to the ThieAudio Monarchs (OG), but kept the A&K Kann Alpha as the DAP serving up the hi-res entertainment while I work.

I decided to stick with Nektar for now so I went ahead and put on their debut album from 1971 entitled Journey To The Center Of The Eye. IMO, this is one of Nektar's best albums. Much like In The Court of The Crimson King by King Crimson which I described as a transitional album, this album also shows a lot of classic rock and psychedelic roots through the prog underpinnings at a time when the genre was still forming from the late 60s rock scene. There's plenty to enjoy here for fans of classic rock, psychedelic rock, prog, or just rock in general.
