On the Fan2-FC6
morning chai today with melodic doom

what to say.. had David Gold not died in a car accident, just prior to release of this album, and band folded up, who knows what heights they could have got to. Luckily, there are still enough fab albums to cherish..

Cleaned all damn day and had no IEM time, now this cover is taunting me while I take a tolerance break… at least it’s nice outside for my little mental health walk 😂

"Way Out West" is the type of album that you can press play on track one and it's going to take you on an amazing journey without the itch to skip tracks. One of the biggest things I miss about vinyl is the tendency to listen to full albums instead of jumping around to multiple tracks across many albums & artists.

Qobuz has this in 24/192 sublime quality.

Track 2 "Solitude" opens with the sax in the left channel and upright bass in the right channel. With a dynamic driver on tubes, it sounds like I'm in a Jazz club front row right next to Sonny Rollins, incredible.

Can't get away from the Symphonium Meteor.

Orquídeas (2024), Kali Uchis

I also can't get away from this album from earlier this year. I'm a total sucker for exceptional pop music (this album peaked at Billboard #2). I completely underestimated the staying power and genuine soulfulness of Kali Uchis when I first heard her debut album (Isolation, released in 2018). I liked her first album, but didn't love it. But now, four albums into her career, I'm totally hooked.

Really great record, need to listen to this again.

One thing about me, I freakin love concept albums man. This one is pretty morbid so I won’t type it out, but Trainwreck was a pivotal album for 15 year old me.

Universal Chaos (2019) by Rendezvous Point - A melodic prog-metal band from Norway (like so many others). I found them while on a roon safari and have been playing this and their first album for the last couple of hours. The music has something of a Leprous sound, which is not so strange as the drummer also plays for them. Went with the HD800S tonight as I wanted to add a little space to the music so I could pick out the individual instruments a little easier, so it's a bonus that they sound so good while doing so - still haven't stopped grinning.

Work session with Joe, not something I would have heard a few years back, but I'm learning to appreciate this genre more :)
