Moon Silver Dragon balanced is a great cable. I agree that the stock cable is a good one.I like the sound of the Utopia stock cable, but then again I have no experience in cables. I need a new cable to use the balanced 2.5mm TRRS jack in an Onkyo DP-X1A. Any suggestions for a balanced cable that pairs well with the Utopia?

I bought a pair of Focal Clears at the NY Can Jam and the right side driver failed. Where do repairs go? Fical or the dealer?
Thanks

Moon Silver Dragon balanced is a great cable. I agree that the stock cable is a good one.
I am having very good results with the HeadphoneLounge UP-OCC [T2] all silver cable [on both the Utopia and the Clear].
Anyone ever tried risking a headphone purchase on ebay?
I am contemplating it as seen a used Focal Clear set for £899 on ebay UK, which is much less than shop prices at £1,300+.
Plus it still has 6 months Warranty left.
I did : no problem IF YOU PAY VIA PAYPAL AND IF YOU READ CAREFULLY THE DESCRIPTION. The price is right : 1/3 below the retail price. Please remember to ask if he has an invoice and will send it to you with a letter assessing he has sold you the Focal clear serial number XXXXXX for £899 otherwise you won't have warranty. Wish I could sell my Abyss 1266 Phi CC at 2/3 of the shop prices.

You'll a lot of different suggestions. Why don't you buy an adapter ? Ask Ted @teds headfood from headphonelounge

+1 for recommendation of Ted.You'll a lot of different suggestions. Why don't you buy an adapter ? Ask Ted @teds headfood from headphonelounge
However, I would strongly recommend against any kind of adapter solution if you're starting with a 4-pin XLR cable. 2.5mm jacks are not robust. I had one fail on my Plenue 2. It got to the point where one side was cutting out anytime the player was moved. Player had to go back to Korea for repair, and was gone 3+ months.
And this happened when I was using only 2.5mm terminated cables. Just swapping too much apparently. But a 4-pin XLR termination is heavy enough to add significant torque/stress on the jack. I say:
Just don't do it!
JMHO and just my experience of course.

did somebody try to amp the utopia with the Luxman sq n100?
I had the 550ax and liked very much with the he1000 -from the back- and fostex th900-from the front- but never tried the utopia with
I foumd a sq n100 for an ok price, does it worth or better to look for a dedicated one like a second hand hp-4, dna stratus or luxman p1?
I already tried these 3 with my cans and I liked very much, but very difficult to find in the second hand market, a friend suggested me also zana deux, but never tried
it should work with both th900 and utopia
thank you

The original cable is 1/4” TRS. I think using an adapter to a TRRS jack would damage the Onkyo, wouldn’t it?You'll a lot of different suggestions. Why don't you buy an adapter ? Ask Ted @teds headfood from headphonelounge
Any other cables anyone likes with the Utopia? How about Kimber or Audioquest?

DHC Complement 4 OCC silver with 2.5 mm is very good with Utopia.
Used 4.4 mm direct adapter for Sony 1Z.
Used 6.3 mm direct adapter for ALO S6 tubes amp.
Used with ALO CDM, tubes rolling.
All of these have great synergy with Utopia.
S6 TUBE amp is the best one out of those.

Correct, you cannot connect a SE cable (which has a single, common ground) to balanced output of an amp without the possibility of damage. The original cable is 1/4” TRS. I think using an adapter to a TRRS jack would damage the Onkyo, wouldn’t it?...

You're right, I didn't know which termination he had. But my answer is still the same, ask Ted @teds headfood , you'll get a good quality/price or free advises. The DHC 4 OCC silver starts at $750 and you'd need thinner cable IMHO. Anyway, Ted could recommend you a DHC cable if he considers you can find better than what he provides.
