Focal Utopia General Discussion

Yes, either all the changes to my chain 'fixed' the problem, or my ears and brain burned in. Utopia still have more high frequency energy than any of my other cans, and there are times that I feel some instruments are over-emphasized. But I'm not finding them 'sharp' anymore, and I would attribute that to my amps. In fact as far as DACs go, my Gumbys are brighter than my Pontus was, so it must be the amps (or my ears/brain).
I am not familiar with the sound signature for the Hugo 2, together with the 2go, and I am not familiar with the sound signature for the BX2+, but I have seen that your DSHA3F amplifier had been developed for Focal headphones.

Did you stop utilising the Elex pads together with the Utopias when you had started utilising your DSHA3F?

Actually, I went back to stock pads on my Utopia when I changed to:

A2 Gumby ==> Liquid Platinum (once I rolled in some NOS Siemens tubes)

from :

Pontus ==> Bryston BHA-1

I just recently became an owner of the utopias.
So here's to hoping their values won't depreciate much after the release of its successor.

It would probably depend on how much the 'successor' was being sold for. If they are $6000 or $7000, I'd guess the Utopias will retain most of their resale value...

Definitely not. It looks rather small but still tries to resemble the bold design this brand is famous for. One pull with the cable and it’s off the table.

Was offered the WyWires Platinum 3m 1/4" jack cable for the Utopia for a good price so I took it. Read a lot of positive comments through the thread about it so looking forward to receiving it. Been using the stock original 1/4" jack cable up until now so I should notice a difference/improvement right? :D

Just received my repaired Utopia back from Focal. The left driver was dead and they replaced BOTH drivers according to my receipt. I wonder if this issue has been addressed and future failure for the new drivers decreased?

To get the 5 year renewed warranty do you have to do anything in terms of registration or is it automatic in Focal’s system? I assume the latter.

In any event, all is well and they sound great with the stock cable.

Ooh if it's repaired under warranty the warranty extends further?

I just got an email from focal-naim in Montreal that there’s no new version of Utopia headphones and that rummers of U2 are false. As well the warranty on new drivers is 5 years from repair.
